I was trying to find a board on 4.3 or at least 4.4.2 but most listers will say they're not sure what the version is. I took a chance on a smashed phone hoping that it had been lying around for a while before it was listed. I got the phone for $17 including shipping......it was on 4.4.4. I ended up just buying a working phone that was already rooted on 4.4.2 for $159. It was pretty beat up so I swapped the board into my newish looking housing. I plan to resell the beat up phone with the now 4.4.4 board it and hopefully will get close to what I paid for the rooted one.
Wait... if all you want is root than ghetto root will do it for you. Bootloader is another beast all together.

I was on 4.4.4 so nothing was working. I literally tried every root method I could find,

CF Auto Root
framaroot
KingRoot
OneClickRoot
Super-Sume Pro
TowelRoot
Universal Root De La Vega
VRoot (iRoot)

I didn't try ghetto root but from the info I could find, there is no root method period for 4.4.4+

I acquired a Verizon Note 3 from my daughter who went back to iPhone. It is running 4.4.2 and I just got done rooting it with towel and have successfully installed a working safetstrap 3.75.

My question is which rom should I use for this thing? I guess the better question is, which rom will give me the most features with the fewest headaches? I have ZERO experience with the N3 as I am still on my Galaxy S4 rooted daily driver. I was going to use the Note 3 as a bluetooth/wireless device in the car and around the house because of the bigger screen and stylus which I actually like.

Any help and direction would be most appreciated.... I will not be using this as a phone because I am a Sprint customer, this is a Verizon phone and it has no sim card.

Thanks!

AllianceROM looks good with a lot of customization options. I tried it on slot-1 and was having some issues so I haven't tried it in the stock slot yet. I'm trying to find an answer to whether the one handed keyboard and reboot menu work properly. These 2 items were immediately a problem when running on slot 1. I don't know if that would have caused this behavior or if it is a ROM issue.

Alliance ROM is awesome, especially if you like the ability to customise many things.
As far as I know, Safestrap TouchWiz ROMS need to go on the stock slot.
