Everything on the device was working perfectly including fast charging. Updated to Oreo and now fast charging will not work... Screen off or on, phone off or on. Occasionally it will for couple of seconds but then back to cable charging it goes. No changes were made and device has never been rooted or custom rom used. Was just a plain OTA update which installed just fine.

Original cable and original charger as before. Charger charging other samsung phone just fine via fast charging so doubt its charger.

Have tried numerous reboots, shutdowns, turning on/off fast charging in device maintenance, recovery mode, cleaning the cable socket and charger... Have not done a hard reset yet and not sure that will fix it....

Interesting thing though, using a powerbank charger with usb-c to usb-c cable is fast charging just fine....

Hi, I have the exact same device and have no problems with fast charging in Oreo. I have reflashed mine with the O2U carrier firmware however.

Have you checked the setting within Settings > Device Maintenance > Battery > three dots > Advanced Settings and made sure it's turned on?

Well you reflashed with a different firmware so that might or might not have something to do with it.

Yes had already done that as I stated. If that is your screen shot then you are missing fast charge wireless enable/disable option which the stock firmware has and yours appears not to have it on that page.

Not necessarly the case. If the phone has never had a fast wireless charger connected to it, that setting won't appear.

Why wouldn't it just show the fast wireless charging option anyway? And he used to use fast charging so he has in the past... Weird - attached a screen snapshot of mine btw...View attachment 4473342

Not sure why but I can undertsand the reason for it. It's a Samsung thing. Same goes for those Samsung flip cover cases or whatever, the settings for those don't show up in accessories until one has been used. The Note 5 was the same way.

Back to the topic at hand please.
Any solutions or ideas?

Every time now I have noticed it says fast charging for a split second when I plug it in and then changes to cable charging. Using the powerbank usbc-usbc cable just says fast charging.

Only software option now left is downloading the official stock region firmware and flashing that back on using Odin?
1. Would doing this break knox or some other counter thereby disabling Samsung pay and samsung secure etc?
2. Would I be able to flash the official stock firmware over the already installed stock firmware?
3. If I were to use a stock firmware from a different region would that break the knox?

Just a follow up in case anyone else has/gets similar issue.

Samsung service centre said its a physical issue and that the motherboard needs replacing which also means phone would get new IMEI. I would have thought its the USB charging port but they said nope its the motherboard because they tested it and because its fast charging from powerbank via usbc to usbc cable...

Got to send it back to Taiwan and get it sorted out as Samsung devices do not offer International Warranty (the one good thing about Apple; its International Warranty and dealing with problems via full replacement/instantly/very fast).
