RR 5.8.1 Beta - 7.1.1 Based

Tried this build on my P-601 with these following combination;
SM-P601
1. BL 601XXDQA1 (5.1.1)
*this BL will give you crackling sound/music, suggestion so far is downgrading to 4.4.2
2. CP 601XXDPC1

Basic;
1. RR 5.8.1 Beta
2. superSU SR3 2.79 System
4. Busybox 1.25.1
5. Open Gapps Pico 7.1 Arm
*any other gapps version, so far had failed to be installed. It will crash during setup wizard, and will show google store, google play service and google service framework failure
6. Arise Sound System 2.4 (Viper4Android, Dolby Digital Plus, ICE Sound, SONY sound package)
7. Substratum Theme Manager (561)
*by default, RR 5.8.1 included Masquerade in priv-apps, this app require subtratum engine to be used
(tested using Glow and Spectrum theme, all works)

Extras;
1. AOSP keyboard was replaced with GBoard
2. Google Handwriting
3. SPen Command
*samsung alternative spen usability
4. Open Camera
*Default camera has limited option and features.
5. Nova Launcher
6. Tesla Unread
7. Solid Explorer
8. Adaway

So far, all the above are working good for me. Hiccups so far, is a bit lag during apps loading, especially between running apps. Not really felt but sometimes it is visible. Rather heavy on battery, but cant confirm it is really from ROM or my thirst to install lots of apps.

Overall, as always, RR has more space for altering default setting. This alone is an enticing feature from RR, not to mention other unexplored features from Android 7.1.1. Maybe we can all expect a custom kernel to go along with this excellent ROM with more optimization from well known and hardcore developer for this device in not so far future.

The kernel does not suit you? I have put a lot of soul in it.
It is stable, with a bunch of "buns" and not worse deathly kernel. What, in your opinion, there is not enough?

No, thats not what I meant.

What Im saying is maybe, some developers is willing to create custom kernel to go along with this great ROM. Your current kernel is already great, it serve the needs very well. But, just like any other devices, even if the default kernel is already good, there are developers who tried to build custom kernel.

My saying is for those developers, hoping maybe they are willing to build custom kernel for P601.

If my wordings offended you in anyway, please accept my sincere apology. None of if is taking your effort lightly, your works on P601 is always great and really appreciated.

With an SD card it's all right. Such policies Android6 / 7 - you must give permission for the SD card for each application.

Ohh wow, new security features and I completely miss them. Was on Hyperdrive way to long. You're awesome release helped paved the way for me to switch back. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on this and all your other great work.

tried Lineage with my rythm game ([email protected]), at first the game is okay, but later I found the graphic is offsync with the audio (the audio seems fine, the graphic went off unless i paused the game and then resume so it got synced again)
this rom is great, i'm really looking foward thru this fix if possible

Concern for s pen

Dear OP, thanx 4 dis amazing rom. I have never used an aosp based rom on either of my note devices, therefore I have a noob question for u. I just wanna kno whether the s-pen sensitivity is affected by the rom or not?

I tested RR on my p600 and it works fine, but i get sound crackeling although i am on kitkat bootloader for p600. I tried to flash the kk bootloader for p601 by ShevT via Odin, but it always failed. Is there any solution for this?

Using LOS ROM.
Really a fantastic Rom, full of native features, dispensing apps for it. Excellent performance and stability. I still see a few small bugs, but overall they do not get in the way of rom. Among them:
• The default file manager does not read the memory card, even giving the necessary permissions and activating superuser mode.
• USB-OTG although working well, sometimes bug and recognizes the pendrive, external hd as if it were the loader and makes the whole OS have slow and crashes, being necessary to restart the tablet.
• the native application to record the screen, although it works, sometimes it locks and also it locks the whole system, forcing to have to restart the device manually.
• WIFI DIRECT is not working. Simply pairing with another device causes the tablet to restart.
• I have not been able to put any provider to work with the native widget of the rom clock, I do the steps requested by it but I always get the message that a climate service provider is missing.
Anyway, those were the bugs I saw and somehow did not interfere very much in the use of rom.

GOODBYE SAMSUNG TOUCHWIZ ROM.

The same errors are present in LINEAGE and RR ROM. It is still very good to use on a daily basis.

Apps like shareit use wifi direct. Are they working properly or the same condition as wifi direct?

I know you need an application to use Wi-Fi Direct, like xplore, share it, etc ... but to use Wi-Fi Direct, we have to pair first with another device. But by doing so, the device restarts.

Agreed this is now my daily driver. Converted from Hyperdrive. There are two default file managers. The one in the app drawer is indeed unable to access the sdcard. However if you go to settings and storage you can access the sdcard and move and copy as desired with the built in file manager built into android since v6.
