I have SM-S918U (S23 ULTRA) and I haven't had one update since the phone was made. It keeps telling me that the last patch was in January. I contacted Samsung through an online chat and was told that the phone is region locked to the US. I am in Jamaica. I could use really use some in removing this region lock since I am months behind with updates.

Cheers

If AT&T won't SIM unlock it for.you. Try a local cellphone repair shop to see if they can SIM unlock it for you. They will probably charge a fee to do so but at least it will get done.
Thanks. I have been reaching out to a few, since the phone is in India, I am not able to find someone who is confident. I will continue to reach out.

If anyone has a reliable lead, I would greatly appreciate it. The phone is an absolute beast and I can't wait to start dailying it.

If not bought outright, it will have to be paid off. Careful with unlock services. About a month ago a friend of mine used a reputable service for At&t Pixel 7pro. Took almost a month and over $100 and her device never got unlocked, and no refund...just saying be careful.

Yes, definitely need to do research on the business/company before purchasing services. Many online websites will do shady things like charge you a small upfront fee and then some days later say "oh sorry, it looks like your device needs a premium level service that costs more money" but then hidden in their terms and conditions is the fact that the original amount that you paid can never be refunded, only used as "store credit" for the future

This is exactly what happened. She would get a message that would say it's 20% completed..then days later it's 35% completed..then oh we need $20 more...never got device unlocked

this might be a slightly obvious question, I am on a unlocked S23U with Spectrum (verizon mvno) firmware.
Is the only benefit to flashing the unlocked firmware a few less apps and the different start up screen?

is there anything else im missing?

I have a Verizon U variant and I'm running U1. I like the less apps, but most of all I like I got my Samsung Cloud back. I just hate the fact carriers would block a native app because they want you to use theirs.
