Hey,
is there no signature spoofing in the latest CrDroid by @virsys? :confused::confused:
I'd like to use microG and have installed all the necessary stuff for that but it's not working and doesn't pass its own check, and the main reason seems to be that signature spoofing (which is apparently required for microG) is not there.
So after some googling of this issue I enabled developer options where the signature spoofing option is normally supposed to be, but there's no sign of it.
Strange because CrDroid is supposed to be one of the roms that does in fact have signature spoofing.
Am I missing something??

btw @Barnyarddog do you have root via Magisk, or some other way?
and which Terminal app are you using?
@boyfromtomorrow For reference, I'm using Magisk and https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm as my terminal app. Glad you got it to work.

Hey @Barnyarddog, cool thanks for the info. I was using Magisk also, but a different terminal app at first (Termux I think).
Not gonna lie, it was painstaking for me as a novice, but so happy I could finally get it working. Thanks for all your help!

I do have 2 more questions:

When I did the final mount step I got the following error message: /dev/block/platform/soc.0/7824900.sdhci/by-name/system'->'/system device or resource busy
Tried a couple of times but it was always the same.
I mean, luckily the solution still worked in spite of this but still I'd like to know if you got this and if there's a way to properly resolve it?

And the more important question: how do I paste into Terminal Emulator? Ideally I want to copy the commands and file names out of your text file guide and straight into Terminal as that saves sooo much time. This worked with Termux (although when I used that I didn't get DRM working) but not for me with Terminal Emulator. That made things so hard and it took ages to type it all in.
I might have to repeat the process as I need to reset the device for other reasons, so it would be amazing to be able to copy and paste straight into Terminal Emulator!

@boyfromtomorrow 1) Not sure about the error but that mount is only making root read only again so it's irrelevant if you restart straight away. 2) I use Gboard as my keyboard and use its clipboard facility to paste into Terminal Emulator. It's going to depend on the keyboard you are using. It shouldn't matter which terminal emulator app you use though as long as it's half decent. As long as you aquire root access via the su command you should be good to go.

oh cool, thanks! I figured out the copy/paste issue. Gboard is cool by the way, cheers for the tip @Barnyarddog

I know I'm going a bit off-topic now, sorry, but I'm now trying to add Clearkey drm to my Galaxy Tab 2 (GT-P5110) running Lineage 14.
So I just followed the same process and copied over all the files except the 2 that are explicitly for Widevine (because L3 was already working and I didn't wanna touch it). In some cases, the file paths didn't exist so I created them. Then did the Terminal work and restarted. Sadly didn't work and I ended up with no Clearkey and no Widevine haha.
Any idea of how I could manage to get Clearkey working on this tab using your files? The SM-T550 was a friend's which I've had to give back for now. This is my GT-P5110 and there's a video app I really want which uses Clearkey so I'm desperate to get it working!

@boyfromtomorrow Glad you figured it out. I can't help you any further except to suggest that you find a Samsung device running equivalent nougat stock software, search on it for files with clearkey or some abbreviated version in the name, copy them over in the same way and see if it works. A bit trial and error I know but you may get lucky.

For those using the virsys Lineageos T550 rom and want to try a newer 17.1 UNOFFICIAL BETA version, see

If yes, please continue the conversation in that thread, not here. This thread belongs to virsys, not me. So out of respect for virsys, I will not be answering any questions regarding here.

Hey there,
glad to see your efforts in getting DRM working. Recently my time was very limited, so I could not get a lot of new stuff done. I'll be gone for some time again, in the meantime you can check the current state of Android 10 here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/virsys-android/files/gt510wifi/crDroid/

There are some font issues in the launcher - the app names look a little bit weird sometimes and cameras are not working. DRM L3 worked on my device, Netflix launched and I could login without issues on the latest release. New version is crDroid as well, so a lineage-based derivative. It is, like you would expect from me, a work-in-progress. Even though I do have limited time to work on Android, it will probably not be the latest release. Security patch on this version is July 2020. Let me know whether you like crDroid or prefer "vanilla" LineageOS.

off topic: Hi virsys, hope you are fine and healthy - merry christmas and thank you for keeping this tab alive for such a long time. all the best!

After I failed getting lineage 16 running on my SM-T550 during the first lockdown this spring, I have now made a second attempt using a slightly newer version of TWRP and here we go, it works. I have to admit that I am quite impressed by how smooth this old device is running with it. So far eveything works that I have installed, including Spotify, Blokada and Playstore. IMHO it is certainly worthwhile going thorugh the bumby ride of rooting and flashing. Thanks for your efforts and making the image available virsys.

Just one small query: Does this version of lineage receive any updates through the updater or is the only way of updating by flashing a new image?

Anyone get Disney+ app to work with Lineage 16.0 rom? App loads and can cast, but playing videos on tablet results in Error Code 39. I tried hiding the app with latest Magisk, but same issue. Any suggestions?

Edit: Nevermind, I moved on to 17.1 and Disney+ works fine.

Hello,

this is a great ROM for the tablet, however, I did run into an issue. Wifi can't see any channels above 11.
I tried editing the build.prop and did this:

Code:
ro.product.locale=en-GB
ro.wifi.channels=13

Still doesn't work, also tried other variants, no go:

Code:
ro.product.locale=EU
ro.wifi.channels=14

Code:
ro.product.locale=en-GB
ro.wifi.channels=

I have another one, which runs latest stock and has no problem, so it's not in hardware.

Thanks.

Unofficial builds don't get updates via updater (unless the maintainer offers the required infrastructure, like @steadfasterX for some devices), so flashing a new image is needed.

You don't necessarily have to clean/wipe your tablet, though : dirty flashing (= flashing an image without wiping anything) may very well work !

Thanks for clarifying.
In the meantime I "updated" to Lineage 17.1 using the build by retiredtab (thread: OPEN BETA for 17.1 UNOFFICIAL LineageOS T550 rom). Unfortunately, I had to wipe the tablet, although probably just because of upgrading from 16 to 17.1.

    Lineage OS 16.0 for the SM-T550 is here!

    This is an early stage alpha build; not all features are working well at the moment.
    Code:
    #include <std_disclaimer.h>

    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. Hard & a lot.
     *
     */
    In the beginning I would like to thank:
    Lineage OS team,
    Contributors:
    deadman96385
    MSM8916 team
    elginsk8r

    Instructions
    It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug.
    If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
    How to flash:
    (Again: Don't do it if you don't know it!)

    1. Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
    2. Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
    3. Wipe the System, Cache, Data and ART/Dalvik cache.
    4. Flash the ROM Zipfile.
    5. Flash the GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work).
    6. Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
    7. Reboot your device.

    Reporting bugs:
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.
    Code:
    What is your--

    Just wanted to give a quick update: I'll push a new build with the September security patch as soon as the Lineage OS team has implemented them. Android Q will launch soon. I don't know whether our beloved device from mid 2015 will be able to run this version of Android without major bugs. Maybe we have to move to the GO-version of Android. When I'm unable to get that working I'll continue to push builds for Android P and attempt again to fix some of the known bugs. I'm doing this for fun and I don't have a lot of expertise, so don't expect that we'll outrun all other devices on our way to Lineage OS 17. The vendor files are very old, too. That won't make things easier. I estimate that the first Android Q alpha builds will start in the late fourth quarter of 2019. I will create a thread here, when I think that all major problems are eliminated. I will keep you up to date :)
    7
    New builds are uploaded to my AFH account, you can download the gt510wifi variant
    here
    and a gt510lte test branch build
    here

    Android 10 still requires more work, it is quite time consuming to collect and try patches on a chipset other developers are no longer working on at least for samsung.
    5
    Are there plans to generate a new one with new security patch? thank you :)

    Here you go: https://sourceforge.net/projects/virsys-android/files/gt510wifi/LineageOS/

    Made the switch to sourceforge because some of you were having difficulties downloading the latest AFH releases. I have some good news, finally I got Android 10 running on the SM-T550! There are audio as well as camera issues right now and I need to merge the recent local changes with my GitHub though. For the interested ones of you there will be a new thread with the alpha Android 10 builds soon. The new builds will be crDroid which is based on LineageOS. In case you do not like the new system let me know, it is no big deal for me to use the device tree in pure LineageOS as well. Will keep you posted. Stay healthy and don't get infected with the corona virus <3

    I moved to another machine and have not set up the build environment there. Family is important at christmas, so I expect a new build between 26 and 30 of December. Have some nice holidays! :)
