Sms bug in Wiko Cink Five and Mediatek devices

Hi,

A bug has been discovered in the Wiko smartphone, not only the Cink Five (clone of A116), but in all Wiko.
The bug:
When a Wiko received an sms with just:

The smartphone make a soft reboot and will not ask you pin number if you have, so there's a security issue with this bug.

It have been reported with original apk or similar, for me I'm using 8sms and also have the bug.
EvolveSMS and Go SMS have been reported without this bug

Can we have some reports to see if this bug is all Mediatek device with stock app for SMS, if you can write type of the phone and type of soc will be great.

Just talk to a friend with an A919I and there's the bug, report also on a MT6582

I just make a phone call to Wiko to have more info, and actualy it's an internal team of Wiko who working on this bug with the collaboration of Mediatek to solve the bug, and Wiko will publish a patch.

An app have been published on the play store until we received a patch:
The application allows to avoid the bug "=".
It intercepts sms, remove it and indicate the number of the sender.
It should work with all Mediatek devices who have the bug and use original sms app.

Thanks for the report, I think than the bug is on nearly all mediatek device but need more report of this bug.

This bug only happens with the default sms app.
As a workaround you can either change the sms app or you can use a sms blocking app.

I recommend blocking sms with AntiSpamSMS 2, using the regex: ^=$

Yes the bug is only on stock as I've written and can be correct with other sms app.
Actualy I'm using Textra and it's free bug.
Wiko is working on a patch source on 1st post, but for the cink five (A116 clone) official version is still 4.1.2, Wiko haven't update to 4.2.1.

It have been reported with original apk or similar, for me I'm using 8sms and also have the bug.

The MT6582, MT6589, MT6589T and also MT6572 i think are assigned.

Yes nearly all Mediatek have the bug as it seems to be in the smali of framework.jar and Mediatek provide code to the seller.
Guys, I think need to take contact with seller to ask for a patch, like Wiko will provide here in France.
I don't known if Mediatek will provide a patch to all their seller.
And may be need more report.
