I have been working on my mz 617 for months now and have made great strides in modifications. However, this sounds monumental and I want in. I noticed in build prop that SMS receive and mms receive were set to false by default. I set to true and still cannot get anything to work because I cannot decompile the framework. Please tell me what you need to this going and I will post or send it. Mine is 4g Verizon running safestrap 3.12(TWRP 2.2.2)Thanks for your work.

I also want to note that I have razr. XT 912. It is nearly identical version of blur and of 4.0.4. Framework system UI and everything is 99% similar. Also, the sim card is interchangeable and I can swap phone numbers at will giving my xyboard unlimited text and data. This may make it a little easier to root out a solution to this b/c I have a chance to insert a functioning sim with SMS function. I flashed the version that you remade in the most recent post and it booted up to 'android is upgrading' and kicked to a boot loop. Thank goodness for Nandroid. Anyway, I will do whatever I can to help. Your work with zoom SMS ussd is impressive! !! Thanks again.

My framework

OK. Think I got it. I am MZ617 32 GIG VERIZON (PASTEUR) 4.0.4
I hope it being ics doesn't make this a complete waste of your time. If so I apologize sincerely. It is never my intention to waste anyone's time or ask stupid or redundant questions. I have been trying relentlessly to figure SMS out on my own but it is well beyond my capacity. Thanks for all that you do.

I really never tried to do it on xyboard and on ics in general. Don't think it is a waste of time. I will help if I can. Just give me until weekend and I will decomplie it and see if it is possible first. Couple of parameters to look for. If found, it is worth to try.

There you go.
1) make a nandroid backup just in case so that you can revert to in case of issues.
2) boot into recovery.
3) flash this file.
4) reboot.

There should be after you reboot, messaging app now. Try to send / receive sms or maybe calls if your firmware supports it.

Note: If it doesn't work, try another messaging app from google play store. such as Go SMS pro.

Again, if it doesn't work, I am afraid your Verizon network blocked it.

Let me know the results and good luck. Don't forget the nandroid backup first. Important step.

Thank you!! The mms. Apk won't parse. I am going to get the version you posted "universal " and go SMS. Unwilling report back. Thnx again. :D

I am not sure it worked. I don't have a (phone, SMS center, SMS pop-up, or Mms) apk in system or user apps. "Couldn't parse the package " is what reads when I try install mms. Apk.

HOWEVER...GOOD NEWS!! On prior run with gosms it said "couldn't send message. Will try again when service becomes available." After your mod it at least tries to send without the error message. I think it will work.

Do I need to change build props or install any apps? Take your time. I am grateful for your help...whether it works or not. Thanks!!

Hmmm. It means while getting this error that it tries to send a message. But either the sms/MMS client is not working with APN. Or your network provider blocks it.

It received the greetings from gosms. Is that the same?

My phone apk is actually 'Mobile data.'

I am at work now and cannot mess with it anymore until tonight. I did notice that when I dial a number it drops my data connection. I need a phone process that isn't linked to mobile data if it's possible. Thanks again. The SMS try to send forever but never go thru.

Ok. SMS seems blocked from your provider on your device type. For phone and mms.Apk I will send upload tonight to try.

I am excited. I notice several small changes that denote the ttablet thinks it has call and text functionality. When I call it comes through Bluetooth but immediately drops signal. I noticed telephony references in build props. Maybe the key is in there...

Flash this and try to look for messaging app in your app drawer. Test with it.
Its there. Sweet icon btw... But. It says "messaging has stopped " and won't open. I did zipalign and fix permissions but no luck. Tried go SMS, and another text app for motorola but still drops data signal every time it tries to send or resend. Weird because I am on wifi and the data signal still cycles (4g-no signal-1x-3g)repeat.

Should I try with my Droid raze similar? It has unlimited text.

Ok. This unfortunately concludes the trial. Your carrier service provider doesn't allow sms or voice on data network for your device type. I feel bad for you :(
