No way no how? Apn settings, smsc. Settings? Nothing? I read up and setup dpu configured smsc number and found the apns _config.XML. has a bunch of stuff in? Here for different carriers and several lines that say "begin motorola..." "iktablet. " Literally no clue what that is but seems that somehow I can trick big red into not knowing I am on a tablet.

I know...hopeless but I am not known for giving up lol. Maybe its time to practice just that...giving up.

Thanks for the help. I know you would if you could. BTW...did you get it working on MZ616? I read the posts but not clear on results. Thanks again.

Buddy. I come from telecom background and we as, MSN deployed many solutions in many service providers. Verizon is one of them.

They have a system called NTMS which is a terminal management system. I am sure now after this trial that the HLR /VLR don't send the triggers to NTMS and block them instead for your device type. Had this been sent, your data would be allowed to use the carrier APN on your device.
This might seem Chinese to you. But if you save some money in near future then go for N8000 or N8020. Samsung tablets have this by default and allowed everywhere to use voice/text over data.

For xoom 2, no luck. Motorola dropped the ability from the firmware.

Guys,

Since SMS / USSD Mod can be done successfully on XOOM 3G, MZ601 Devices, I thought to ask if you guys need to test this on MZ602, MZ616 Rooted Devices.

For that, I need testers with the following devices:
1) MZ602, Some 4G LTE devices are thought to not be able to have SMS enabled because of carrier blocking... We will check about that..
2) MZ616,

I will also give a script for roll-back procedure in case the MOD doesn't work...
For the mz601 with Eos4 build 168 ussd code does not existed. Please make a once.

@wesamothman Your mod worked for my mz617!!! It took a fastboot flash and re-flashing the zip, installing the right messaging app and some tinkering, but IT WORKED nonetheless. I recently updated to 4.1.2 and am really hoping you can make another pass at the framework. I know you have more important things going on but this is the most spectacular mod ever and is the reason i waited a month before i took the jb update. I could not decide if losing sms/mms functionality was worth it. I will post my framework_res.apk asap if you are interested. I dont need the mms included in the zip, just the functionality and magic you inserted in the last one. THANK YOU either way.

mz609 request

4.0.4 is old mate. Anyway. Send me your framework - res. Apk
hi, sorry for hijacking the thread, I have a Mz 609 which I currently use in GSM mode outside of the USA. I was wondering if I could have this fantastic mod applied to my tablet. I've read about us carrier vzw blocking SMS in its network, but I am not using Verizon, so it could potentially work

I am attaching build.prop and framework-res.all pulled from the live system. any help will be greatly appreciated

BTW I am on jelly bean

Thanks a lot

not on Verizon wireless

Mz609 can't be done mate. It is blocked by verizon
I have read all the thread. I mean no disrespect to your answer and/or the knowledge poured in your previous posts but I think I need to ask again because either I didn't understand something or maybe you overlooked my statement before

my tablet is not using Verizon wireless' network. I am not located in the US. I am using it in gsm mode.

given those three things is it possible that Verizon somehow still blocks sms/mms on my tablet?

couldn't you at least attempt to mod the framework, once, please?

again, I mean no disrespect, I am the one with lesser knowledge about the subject but I think if success has been reported at least once with the mz 617 which is cdma/gsm/lte the mod could potentially work in my mz609

thanks a lot
