I think you need to use this Odin to flash the new Oreo updates for unlocked firmware, https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=746010030569965806

Unbranding S955U

Hello together,
I read a lot about "unbranding" S8+ but I could not find a answer for "right" Firmware. I have a S8+ (G955U) with a T-Mobile branding. I want to change to the complete unbranded version (no T-Mobile logo and APPs).
Right now is installed Oreo with bootloader 2: (G955USQU2CRB9) (TMB/XAA/VZW).

As I learned, I hope Im right, is the G955U1 version the unbranded Version. but there are also branded version like (TMB). I want to download the right frimware with Samfirm and hope that somebody can instruct me which Type and Region I have to download. Thx!

Unlocked Firmware

Hey, Was anyone able to find the Unlocked US Firmware (Bootloader v2) through Samfirm. I have an ATT S8+ firmware G955USQU2CRC5 running Oreo and i would like to convert it to the unlocked firmware before I give the device to my mother. If possible, please provide assistance. Currently using the following generates a failed response.

Model: SM-G955U
Region: XAA
Could not fetch info for SM-G955U/XAA. Please verify the input or use manual info

Hello xdanilva,
which version I should use to unbrand my G955U (see #706)?
Set your csc to XAA and flash g955u1 crb9 and before you or whoever inserts a simcard disable com.sec.AutoPreconfig then enable again once the Sim card is inserted.

Maybe it would be possible to flash the S8+ and reset the device only. I dont know what I should do based on your description (set csc to XAA and AutoPreconfig). For the "right" firmware I need an region code. Hopefully you can give me a easy way :) Thx.

Ok I'll try to make the process easier to understand for you. But I'll have to explain tomorrow. :)

So I'm using an unlocked Galaxy S8+ from ATT and want to flash unlocked FW. Which steps and what firmware do I need to download in order to get my phone on Android Oreo with unlocked FW? This guide is really confusing as to which steps I need to take first and from where I should download the firmware.

Hello,
if you know the "right" FW you can use SamFirm tool which you can find by Google or download on the first page.

I don't know which firmware I'm supposed to download. I'm on Android 7.0 Nougat with the SM-G955U model on AT&T network unlocked. I downloaded and just tried flashing SM-G955U1 Android 8.0.0 firmware but didn't get any results with PrinceComsy's Odin. I was thinking I could maybe just update that way but it gave me an error.

How to update from unlocked ATT Galaxy S8+ 7.0 Nougat (SM-G955u) to unlocked firmware Galaxy S8+ 8.0 Oreo??

Bootloader is v1.

Hello,
as far as I can see is for AT&T no 8.0 Version available. You have to wait or you jump to the unbranded version which I also want.

US unbranded S8/S8+ i.e the U1 firmware, seems to get updates the slowest. So unless there is a specific reason, stay on carrier firmware

you can try these step
1. flash G955U1UES2AQL1 : FW: G955U1 (android 7.0, CSC: XXA) via PrinceComsy's Odin
if it doesn't work then try update your g955u_att to bootloader v2 first, eg G955USQS2BQL1 (i was done this when my phone in G955USQS2BQL1_G955u_CSC: ATT)
after done, the phone restart one and restart again for config the simcard , i dont use any us network simcard, now my phone model: G955u1, CSC : XAA
2. after done step1, now you can update your phone to android 8.0 via OTA (i dont know OTA work or not coz i gave my phone to my father 2 month ago)

Will G955u (AT&T unlocked) work on Sprint with right firmware?

I bought this phone on ebay dot com

ebay dot com /itm/152865123626

This is an Unlocked AT&T, when I start the phone it shows the AT&T logo but I've been using it on MintSIM (GSM) and it worked for a few months. Now I want to switch to Sprint.

If I do factory reset on this phone, will it still work with any GSM network or get locked to AT&T again?

On sprint dot com/1yearfree this IMEI passed the check and says compatible with Sprint but Ebay product listing said not compatible with Sprint.

This link (gsmarena dot com /samsung_galaxy_s8+-8523.php#g955u) shows CDMA as one of the supported bands.

3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100 & CDMA2000 1xEV-DO

Can I load the G955U1UEU2CRB9 - USA (Sprint) - from Updato and will it start working on Sprint?

Any suggestions? Thanks!

UPDATE:

From this AT&T forums post , I learnt that AT&T actually blocks the CDMA bands. So I went ahead and followed the original instructions for Carrier Switching for S8+ and now my phone detects the Sprint SIM card and I'm able to text/call. Data also works.

Guys, I need some help. I've spent the last 3 days trying to convert a sim unlocked AT&T S8 Plus into anything that will accept a Verizon sim card. I can't get anything AT ALL to flash in Odin (stock, modified, or Prince Comsy). The phone is on baseband G955USQU1AQGL. I already had working drivers installed but I also installed the drivers from this thread and rebooted my computer. The phone is recognized in ADB and Odin from download mode.

I've tried to flash just about everything in this thread plus multiple downloads from other sources. I can't even get it to accept the stock firmware (in any version of Odin) or any part thereof. The only stock firmware I was able to find is -
AP_G955USQU1AQC9_CL10895874_QB12856072_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.md5
BL_G955USQU1AQC9_CL10895874_QB12856072_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CP_G955USQU1AQC9_CP5975173_CL10895874_QB12856072_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CSC_OYN_G955UOYN1AQC9_CL10895874_QB12856072_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
HOME_CSC_OYN_G955UOYN1AQC9_CL10895874_QB12856072_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
USERDATA_ATT_G955USQU1AQC9_CL10895874_QB12856072_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5

Every single time I try to flash anything, I receive this message:
<OSM> Leave CS..
<ID:0/003> Odin engine v(ID:3.1203)..
<ID:0/003> File analysis..
<ID:0/003> SetupConnection..
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

Surely I'm missing something simple? I'm on bootloader V1. Any help would be appreciated. I'm a few more failed flashes away from chunking this phone at the wall.
Hi. Any luck with this? I'm trying to convert AT&T network unlocked to Sprint. Sprint says IMEI is compatible but when I insert Sprint SIM, cannot make/receive calls.

Hi S8 gurus, I need some guidance. I purchased a used samsung unlocked S8+ G955U1 and have some problems with bixby not working and strange & duplicate options in the settings menu. After further research i saw that the baseband is G955USQU1AQC9 (I beleive its the AT&T carrier firmware) and the build is NRD90M.G955U1UEU1AQH3 (I beleive its the unlocked firmware). I think the prior owner tried to carrier switch but screwed up and the mismatch is causing the problems. My questions are 1) can it be fixed without bricking 2) if fixable, which flashing steps do i follow from the OPs instructions to correct it 3) what did the prior owner do wrong? Thanks in advance.

Help...... while flashing the G955U1 Android 8.0 software on odin (Prince Comsy), I keep getting stuck at this point.
