This could have been talked about already, but I have a Verizon S8 I got from Samsung. I put in my Tmo sim and turned it on for the first time. It detected the tmobile sim and said it would restart and install the correct firmware for the carrier. Sure enough, it fired up to the Tmo splash screen and all the Tmo apps are on there, video and wifi calling all work.

Wondering if just a hard reset and another carrier's sim at startup would do the trick without all the manual flashing.

Do we need a Factory Binary Bootloader v3?

Update:
Reading some of the beginnings of the guide I found that the forth letter after the model number of the baseband version is what version of the bootloader is. G955WVLU2BRC1 is what I was previously on, showing a 2. G955WVLU3BRD5 just came out in Canada and is the first version to use the new v3 bootloader as we can see.

I'm hoping for a v3 binary and updated guide if needed.

For those that had the same issue with this step, I found the solution on this thread: (thanks a lot! :good:)

forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572

This patched Odin works!, the flashing process runs smooth...

Now, I have another question, What's the difference between flashing the unlocked firmware directly, without do the switching carrier,or doing with it?, because I did it directly on one S8 Sprint, and the firmware works...

thanks in advance

Factory Binary v3 - https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=890278863836283760
Canadian HOME CSC v3 - https://updato.com/ find SM-G955W, select the latest Region/PDA which at current is XAC/G955WVLU3BRD5. Extract the HOME CSC and you should be ready with all updated files for the guide for v3 bootloader.

I have the same question. If I don't actually carrier switch to a unlocked CSC will that prevent me from getting further unlocked updates?

With the release of bootloader V3, I'm guessing we need to wait for new Canadian HOME_CSC and Factory Binary for revision 3 before we will be able to switch again?

If i have a stock tmobile 955u on oreo, what can I flash if anything to get back bluetooth tethering?

I figured it out. I needed to flash 955u1 firm on my 955u. I used G955U1UEU3CRD4 XAA and I now have bluetooth tethering on my tmobile phone

Sprint carrier question

So i know from reading many posts and the OG post that linked me here that this will not carrier unlock my SIM and i will still need a sim unlock code. However what i want to know is if i do this for a sprint phone and flash new firmware and do the carrier switch to international or At&t or whatever, will it allow put in a sim unlock code in? Currently when i put in a another carrier SIM it doesn't give me an option for putting in a sim unlock code and just wants me contact my carrier to unlock it which i cant because it hasnt been paid off. Any info would be great before i start doing any flashing. Ill update if i find my answer as i continue to search through the comments

I am on ATT and plan on unlocking my S8+ to use on T-Mobile but I'm having a hard time following the instructions on how to flash the TMo software.

In between all the pages here, I'm seeing hit and misses.
Is it still as straightforward as the original post or did things change with the v3 bootloader?

Don't thing it's possible. Also I dont see why you would want to even do that as you won't benefit from it. Your bootloader would still be locked.

I'm currently using G9650/DS HK variant. Snapdragon. Unlocked. Then I went back to VN for work. Sammy doesnt allow me to use Samsung Pay here. Well yes but I gotta use HK card and I have to cover all transaction fees (nonsense). So I've been looking for a way to switch to XXV see if Samsung Pay works here with my local card. That's why.

I tried the flashing combination file method but looks like it doesnt work (I was pretty sure I used the matching combination file). I was able to open Factory IME but dialing the code *#243203855# didnt bring any menu. I think this variant's CSC is hard coded with TGY. I hope I'm wrong.

I know with this unlocked variant I could just flash TWRP and Magisk and get it done with root. But samsung pay will probably stop working and knox gone forever. So I'm not willing to lose knox..... yet.

If you know anything abt it, please help :(
