Oh, quick question, are recent apps and small apps accessible by holding home button or by pressing menu?

It would be so great if they would implement just pressing menu.

You have no idea how huge the process that goes into these updates is. Sony doesn't only have to maintain a base OS (which is pretty easy for them), but they have to make sure all their own applications (Walkman, Album, contacts and dialer, calendar, camera, messages, TrackID, Energy Saver, Back-up and restore, email, first-start guide, Timescape, FM Radio, Update center, Smart Connect, Films, the built-in keyboard and whatever I forgot) also work perfectly on the new version. AND they need to make sure the data from the old versions can be migrated to the new versions without causing problems.

Add to that that Sony never just updates software without changing anything else (like Samsung). Every single update Sony does brings extra functionality, something no other device manufacturer ever does. ICS brought us the new media apps and some extra Keyboard features. JB will bring us the new 2013 lockscreen and styling! That's the second major update that again brings a huge amount of improvements that will once again make your phone feel like a new device.

People should be happy with the way Sony does their updates. The things they add with every update (whether it's ICS or JB) are usually a lot more interesting than the things Google adds.

(And to the person who wanted the cyan icons in the notification bar: dear god please no, those things are horrible - simple yet elegant black and white styling is vastly superior, especially with the rest of Sony's skin design. The icons Sony uses aren't the old Gingerbread ones, those had more shading.)
That's not true that only Sony bring features when updating...the s3 received plenty of new things when getting updates ie multi screen, smart rotation, editing notification panel, new lock screen features, new camera features, new gallery etc....they are also back porting a lot of features that are in there current flagships to there old flagships the s2 and and note...what's also good is that Samsung are quick at updates...only had to wait 3-4 months to get jb where as the xperia s(which my brother has) will have to wait for nearly 10 months....not hating but to say that no other other OEMS add features in updates is not true...if you wondering what a Samsung owner is doing here well just keeping an eye on the xperia s jb update as my brother isn't really one or got the time to be spending time following forums etc so am doing it for him :)

Indeed, but phones nowadays have only back, home and recent apps, right?

Yeah. But they were meant to be like that from beginning of their lives. Ours, not. But I think is better to have on screen buttons only or hardware buttons with menu. Our is a menu, and will stay like that.

Just asking have you used any Xpera 2010,2011 device & a Samsung device ?

its complete opposite of that when it comes to updates mate.Sony just gives 1-2 app maximum(in 2011 series ics update case only thing new apart from ics was dialer that came with xperia s gingerbread) update while samsung gives their whole new set of features to old phones which is pretty amazing, check galaxy note's jelly bean update or s3's jelly bean update.every new software goodie that came with note 2 was given to both and s2 too in February.Just saying, everybody thinks Samsung is the evil company in android scene like apple but in reality its not.

no "stamina mode" only "extended standby"

I feel stamina mode itself is nothing more than an extended standby mode, don't you feel so?

Check this xperia z screenshot, the description for stamina mode and xperia s extended standby mode is slightly different but I feel the function is same.Am I missing something?

You can white list an app with stamina mode. E.g. You like to keep real time notification for Whatsapp or other instant messaging apps. :)

Re: {SneakPeek} official JellyBean for Xperia S (LT26i)

I bet sony will skip the 4.2 update for all 2012 except t v
This is cruel bt this is sony :D
I don't think so and I hope I'm right. If they went through all this process to get us jelly bean and make it as easier to update as possible they will update to newer versions. And with XS there is no excuse (like resolution, rom, ram etc.) to update to further versions.
And other 2012 xperias that won't get JB at least got few ICS updates and features from newer phones to make them better.

The excuses may be s3 sources for jb 4.2 :p
2012 x flagship (xs) getting jb after mid ranged models seem to show sony is loosing priority for it
However I would b happy if it gets 4.2 as I may upgrade to a xs (i luv it)

Btw lock screen looks awesome
Any ports available!??

Why do you people ask so much about all the small things of the coming release? It can change and it is an early build so...it is just like seeing the CM thread. When people ask.. Does the camera work!

Enjoy the screens and wait :) I am excited myself :) thanks for the pictures doom :)
