Watching Floss Carter on YouTube, with his review of HTC 10. His biggest negative factor is that the phone is too small for him. Everything else is good, he even mentions that HTC should've made two options like HTC 10 and 10+.
I thought a 5.2" was a perfect size.. it was a little more Tall than Wide.. but i got use to it fairly quickly.

============
His top 5 phones:
1: Note 5 ( haven't seen many reviews on this phone)
2: Nexus 6p (from what I hear, this is a great phone that a LOT of phone guys use.. seems to be a great overall package. (just wish it had SD Support)
3: iPhone 6s+ ( this does seem to be a good phone, but can't get past the operating system :silly: )
4: S7 edge (this probably would have been other one of my choices, i think it is the best phone right now.. but i don't think it is rootable / unlocked bootloader possible)
5: LG G5 ( this surprised me, i heard a lot of negative reviews or a lot said the phone was average at best, couldn't compete with others on this list)

well.. i'm still on my Note II... good phone.. just ready to have something newer... good thing is Nova Launcher does make it feel and look like new android.. :thumbsup:
I am on a Pixel now and miss the size of my Note 2. Going from a 5.7 inch screen to a 5 inch feels like a downgrade even though the hardware is so much better. I still use my Note 2 on a daily basis for use on apps to use less battery time on my Pixel.

oh got ya. So you didn't go with the Pixel XL ? I like the pixel but just not able to pay the cost plus i really like expandable storage... Did you get the Camera Halo update yet? did it fix it?

Thanks.

Still lurking about!

*waves to the few remaining Note 2 users*
Hey guys, I'm still here too.. I check the forum a couple times a week probably, just to see if there's any new activity.. Still cranking away on old beastie here.. It's not activated with any account at Verizon so it's just a Wi-Fi device for me.

As far as updates go, you're lucky! Mine is stuck on 4.3 with a locked bootloader so all the groovy new bells and whistles aren't for me lol.. I do agree about Nova launcher though, I've tried several and I like that one the best!

Sadly I'm going to have to retire Beast soon though.. The dog wrapped his leash around my leg and tripped me into the corner of the car, cracking the glass.. The "impact resistant" screen protector did nothing! It's still usable though, so I'm saving up for a new device, just not in any rush.. Gotta do more research first, but at the moment I'm actually leaning toward just moving up to the Note 3 on Sprint. My wife has a Note 5 through Sprint, which we have the Wi-Fi hotspot unlocked on. one thing I don't like about the newer phones is no data when you're on a call, which is why I'm thinking about the Note 3(pre-spark version)

Anyway, since I'm looking down the barrel on this phone, I've started tinkering with things.. Trying different ad blockers, host files, simple things like that.. Still haven't found the magic mixture though lmao.. I'm thinking once I do upgrade I'll keep this guy around and try my hand at learning how to theme apps just for fun..

BTW, I'm running the Alliance ROM build 26, Android 4.3 with safestrap recovery, and Xposed with several modules.

Cheers everybody, and happy holidays!

lol.. yeah I am glad i have the most current stock ROM for this phone.. but honestly i had almost chalked it up to bricked beyond repair.. so I am still thrilled it came back..

Oh man.. yeah I'm always afraid of that accidental drop that will do something like that!

Interesting.. I was looking around at the Note 4 (still able to be unlocked and rooted).. but I wasn't aware that some now do not allow data while on call.. I do remember my HTC 10 was like that and I thought it was just a Verizon thing..

BTW, I'm running the Alliance ROM build 26, Android 4.3 with safestrap recovery, and Xposed with several modules.
I keep thinking about the Safestrap method.. but nervous about getting back into the flashing rom business since I almost lost my Note 2.. I do still have my S3 I could fall back on.. but I'm not sure I could go back to a 5" screen.. LOL

Cheers everybody, and happy holidays!
Merry Christmas and HAPPY NEW YEAR! :)

Cracked the glass on my Clark which rendered it inoperable yesterday. Broke the motherboard's big ribbon cable connection while trying to swap in a less broken LCD.

So I'm back until I get a new phone.

I'd forgotten how horrific the screen on lag is.

I see the "CyanogenMod 14.1 for N7100"
it would be nice if some one would port it for us
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-14-0-n7100-t3487568
It would be awesome but kinda doubtful because with how old this device is, all the devs have moved on to new and better. If it does come to our device, I will load it up immediately. I still use my Note 2 as a secondary device almost every day and would like to continue to play around with new roms if I can.

yeah.. i'm surprised that the S3 forum is still up and running and I believe has 7.0 as well... the Note 2 came out after the S3.. so not sure why our DEVs have all left... :confused:

Mostly because of the locked down bootloader on the mj9 firmware issue I think.. There's only so much they can do with it, so once they hit the wall they just left..

But I know other versions of the note 2 firmware don't have that problem, so those could still be worked on and upgraded..

Problem is there are few people left who still have a Note 2 with unlocked firmware at this point that it is not worth developing for. Mine is still unlocked but I see others still posting here rocking locked devices. Developers are only going to work on devices where there work can be used and appreciated, and unfortunately the Note 2 is not one off these devices anymore. That being said, the phone lifetime lasted a very good amount of time with the added development of all the people who added to it through the years and I thank them for it.

Unfortunately I'm now out of the note 2 club.. Mine finally bit the big one a couple nights ago.. After using it for about 6 months with a cracked screen, it finally got tired of the abuse I guess.. I was listening to some Rob Zombie while I was working in the yard, when the album finished, the poor thing tried to reboot for some reason.. Only it got stuck on the initial Samsung Galaxy Note 2 screen.. This happened once before and a battery pull with a few minutes rest brought it back to life. No such luck this time.. I'm not sure if it got wet, it was a little humid that night, or if it got too cold and froze up, or if it was just plain done lol..

Funny thing is, I can boot into download mode, but Odin won't detect it, and if I leave it on the logo screen Odin can see it but not do anything with it! I'm flummoxed.. I even had to downgrade to my even older Moto RAZR.. Man this thing is tiny!

So unless a miracle happens, or I manage to hold my mouth right while connecting it, and accidentally hit the right sequence of buttons, I'll be moving on.. Not sure where I'll end up yet, but I've got a friend with an HTC I might grab up on the cheap..

It's been real guys! I was really looking forward to trying the bootloader jumper hack on my n2, but oh well..

See y'all somewhere else!

Some Good News. If you guys want, you can go here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2/development-n7105/rom-lineageos-n7105-t3538310 and download him rom Lineageos 14.1 open it in 7zip. navigat to here lineage-14.1-20170216-UNOFFICIAL-t0lte.zip\META-INF\com\google\android\ and drag the "updater-script" to your desktop and open it with Notepad ++ and delete the first line
Code:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "t0lte" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "t0lte" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "t0ltexx" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "t0ltexx" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "GT-N7105" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "GT-N7105" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "t0ltedv" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "t0ltedv" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "GT-N7105T" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "GT-N7105T" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "t0lteatt" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "t0lteatt" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "SGH-I317" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "SGH-I317" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "t0ltetmo" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "t0ltetmo" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "SGH-T889" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "SGH-T889" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "t0ltecan" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "t0ltecan" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "t0ltevl" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "t0ltevl" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "SGH-I317M" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "SGH-I317M" || abort("E3004: This package is for device: t0lte,t0ltexx,GT-N7105,t0ltedv,GT-N7105T,t0lteatt,SGH-I317,t0ltetmo,SGH-T889,t0ltecan,t0ltevl,SGH-I317M; this device is " + getprop("ro.product.device") + "."););
Do a file save. and then drag the file from the desktop back into 7zip click OK to overwrite file and then close 7zip. then go to https://dl.twrp.me/t0ltevzw/ and download twrp-3.0.2-0-t0ltevzw.img. then go to play store and download nandroid manager. Run nandroid manager and then swipe right to the recovery tab and then click flash new recovery then navigate to twrp-3.0.2-0-t0ltevzw.img when prompt which way you want to selectit select the bottom option and then proced to flash the recovery. Make sure you read the first post in the thread link i posted above you need to get the gapps and the Magick su to flash and the app to install.
This rom runs smoother then my galaxy s 7 edge. I do not have a sim card in here so I cannot test the cellar part of the phone.
@PoisonNinja THANK YOU AGAIN

Still my daily driver!

Although no longer networked this baby works hard while my expensive laptop sits in the corner:p
Rooted so I could eliminate the junk via Titanium Backup but still on stock KitKat. Play Store options/upgrades keep me plenty busy without a custom rom! Just added a wifi sms/voip app although contemplating reactivating this with Tracfone.
I mostly check out XDA when I need help with issues i.e. rooting, a misbehaving launcher, etc. This time trying to figure how to safely install Xposed modules for battery drain without a custom recovery.
So, welcome to the Forum & happy hunting;)
