Unlock bootloader:
There's no official way to unlock bootloader. You can only rely on third party seller to unlock it for you (can't guarantee safety). There are online merchants who does this service but often expensive (almost half the price of xz3). I paid around 40 usd to unlock it.
I can't guarantee the safety of these merchants so you'll have to search for yourself.

ROM:
As far I can see there's only two roms that are still actively support xz3, SonyAOSP by Martin and LineageOS if you are aiming for stability. Both are not Pixel-customed and you'll need to flash those modules urself via magisk (not recommended). Guide for SonyAOSP is provided in the first thread and as for LineageOS just go their site and search for xz3. They provide a guide that is more clearer than my future.

Custom recovery:
LineageOS provide in-house recovery if you flashing their rom, as for others I'm not very familiar.

Ahh, how I wish I didn't get a Japan model, it's a pain in the a*s to get it work with custom rom.

P.S yea i bricked it :')

Bro you've worried me allot brother... So this means i can't unlock bootloader myself?? ... I have done that before with a few other phones... So does that mean it's unlockable?? I hope you've understood what i said i said my only requirement is to use photos app as in a pixel with free storage that's it... If this phone is so hard to get a stable custom pixel and you've bricked your phone does that mean i should just stop even trying... ?? And if I use lineage os and properly for their flashing guidelines step by step .... What's the chance of success?? Don't wanna get my phone bricked... If you can help I'll be glad bro..

SOV variants are the one locked with Japan Telco, you can't unlock it urself. Either you call the telco to unlock for you (which usually they will just decline), or find technicians who has access to the servers to unlock your phone illegally (the online merchants).

As for flashing the LineageOS, I would say its pretty ez to follow and ez to flash. Should be fine as long you follow step by steps.

Not sure if SonyAOSP has the unlimited storage for photos, but LineageOS doesn't have it. Else you'll need to flash that module via magisk.

I bricked mine cuz misconfiguration when configuring magisk and recovery.

Before this phone I've unlocked lots of bootloaders but if it's thats hard then i just better stay on the official rom that i currently have... Because i don't even know there can i find those techs... Can you tell me what is Sony AOSP? what is AOSP? means official rom? ... If there's a way to get to a custom rom without involving a tech then let me know and i will try it... Otherwise i better stay on the official Sony rom then... I'm ok with it but I was hoping to increase it's battery life with a good custom rom or and have unlimited storage option in Google photos app .... If that's such a problem then well i better stay on what i have... Don't wanna brick my phone... And thanks alot for the answer bro

    The Sony Open Devices Project is always happy about volunteers (coding, testing, etc) :)
    Also mainlining your favorite snapdragon powered xperia device into the mainline kernel is possible and we will be glad to help you!

    Code:
    #include <std_disclaimer.h>
    /*

    * We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.

    This is the AOSP ROM for the Sony Xperia XZ3 (akatsuki)

    This ROM build will always mainly based on Sony AOSP Code and maybe include cherry-picks.
    I plan to make monthly builds, after a new security patch level, if there is no need for a critical hotfix.

    FAQ:
    Bugtracker:
    Bugreport:
    • A bugreport needs
      Code:
      logcat -b all
      and a way to reproduce the issue.
    • A crash of the system requires the content of the /sys/fs/pstore folder as bug report
      • Be aware that a second reboot erases this folder
    • A crash to the recovery partition requires additionally the content of the /dev/block/by-name/misc partition
      • You get the content via `cat /dev/block/by-name/misc partition > /path/to/output/file.txt`
    • To rescue a not responding phone:
      • VOLUP+POWER for 3 Seconds -> RESTART with one Vibration.
      • VOLUP+POWER for 20 Seconds -> SHUTDOWN with 3 Vibrations.
      • VOLUP+POWER+CAMERA for 30 Seconds -> HARDWARE SHUTDOWN by discharging a capacitor.

    Thank you very much for your help, code contribution & testing! (Random order):
    • @jerpelea, the sony employees and their volunteers (people like you and me) coding this wonderful piece of software
    • @dhacke for providing a download server
    • And many thanks to the few donators! :)

    Download & Installation

    Download ROM:

    Download Drivers:

    GCAM Camera App:

    Installation with a recovery:
    1. fastboot flash oem _a oem_*.img (Only needed until the device receives mainline support by SODP)
    2. Flash the ROM in a recovery
    3. Reboot into recovery just to make sure you're on the new slot
    4. OpenGapps (Requires TWRP or a custom ROM recovery)
    5. Dual Sim Patcher (Requires TWRP or a custom ROM recovery)
    6. (In case a modification prevents your device from booting) fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img

    Flash the ROM without a recovery:
    1. Extract the payload.bin from the .zip file
    2. Extract the .img files with the Playload Dumper
    3. fastboot flash boot boot.img
    4. fastboot flash dtbo dtbo.img
    5. fastboot -w (Wipes your internal storage and the userdata; only if needed)
    6. Now you got the AOSP recovery, to please continue with the normal installation
    7. fastboot flash oem_a oem_*.img (Only needed until the device receives mainline support by SODP)
    8. fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
    9. fastboot flash system system.img

    I can't find new OTA version. I see only old SW_BINARIES_FOR_XPERIA_ANDROID_12_4.19_V3A_TAMA (updated date 27 July).
    Is it the correct version?
    That's the OEM and sadly it seems to be delayed by the new Sony smartphone release

    Hello MartinX3! Thank you for putting your effort to develop this firmware. I've akatsuki (SOV-39 variant). Bootloader can't be unlocked. My question is simple, can I flash your firmware?
