Softbutton brightness between variants?

I have a Captivate, and my friend here just picked up the t-mobile version, the Vibrant. I was checking out his phone and I noticed the soft buttons on his phone were insanely bright compared to mine. I am attaching a picture I took with my other friends Evo.

Shouldn't these phones be entirely identical except for the case design? You think there's something wrong with my Captivate? I have to double check my brothers. It I wouldn't mind the soft buttons being a little dimmer, but now that I've seen the Vibrant, I'm a little jealous! What do you guys think?

And this... is my friend who just got the Vibrant, who's phone I took a picture of. Your phone may have brighter softlights, but my phone's got nicer styling! So there!

Anyway, anyone else notice a big difference in the brightness? I know we've been unsuccessful in changing the length of time the soft lights stay lit, but how about changing the brightness?

I'd actually prefer a middle ground, I occasionally would like our lights to be a little brighter, but not too bright like the vibrant

And better styling ftw :D

I think the lightts are better on the captivate. The only thing that needs to be bright it's the screen, also the dim soft light conserve battery.

see i don't think the dimness is the capti's problem. I personally think it's not a big deal and it's fine.. the problem is the responsiveness of those buttons.. they're pretty bad. I've heard good things about the lag fix helping those buttons out, though I don't think it will maximum that kink out so much :( ..
