We want to announce new Motorola Moto mod we are working on, Solar Z sun-powered charger with battery.
Simply leave Mod in the sun and snap it to the phone when you need additional power and it will be transferred to the phone battery. Charge your phone without cables.

Solar Z has a simple design and easy to use approach. It has no movable parts, one button only, however, electronic design is latest with high-level integration components.

It contains 2600 mAh Li-Ion battery which charges to 80% in 12 hours on an average sunny day, compatible with all Moto Z phones.

as you working on the MOD design, is there a way to use the pogo pins w/o any extra circuit/chip to charge or supply with power?

Unfortunately no. Just short time after connecting Mod to the phone pin (corner top left hand size) is open (from phone perspective) and can accept charging. However, if communication through main connector between phone and mod does not exist, this pin will be closed from phone side and phone can not be charged. Answer is that you can not just hook ub battery or anything else to charge phone. You actually need micro-controller who knows how to talk to the phone.
