I applied all of the stuff mentioned by royalbloodvi in another thread here:
[Solution] MUST-HAVE For X2 Users! Speed Tweaks & How to Disable "Slideview" & Panels
So anybody, that finds those tips useful enough for him, should go with those. My problem was, that even when I applied all of the stuff, phone was still laggy, had some SOD's, sometimes turned off by itself etc. Since there is still no official note from SE about MR2, I was desperately looking for an answer. Creation of X2 subforum made my search easier, after browsing some topics, I gathered all the info, and to make it easier for you, I exposed it in this topic.
All the credits go to the topic starters in here, once again, I just gathered and compiled the info:
Xperia X2: How to change language (re-flash an Stock Spanish ROM), dreamcrawler for translation and originating tips, gbajzelj for the final idea and ultrashot and lollylost100 that provided the X2 software cabs.
***********************************
Procedure:
1) Open SEUS (SonyEricsson Update Service), start a new update. EVEN IF IT SAYS YOU HAVE LATEST VERS, UPDATE IT ANYWAY.
Another version: click on Start/Settings/System/Clear phone memory, enter all the needed info. It will put phone back into original state (MR1 - since you updated your phone to that version)
2) ONCE IT REBOOTS, CALIBRATION SCREEN APPEARS. RIGHT AFTER CLICKING ON THE CROSSES, IT WILL APPEAR THE SONY ERICSSON LOGO, AND IT WILL START APPLYING THE CABS. PUSH THE RESET RIGHT after it starts applying (hidden behind the stilus, opening the battery cover).
3) After rebooting, the Sony Logo will appear again asking to retry. Press NO. Well by default this will keep on showing up every time you restart the phone, and it will also reset your time & date setting to some time in March. But I found a solution for that. With registry editor of your choice, search for Launch190 (HKLM\init\Launch190\CustAppInstaller.exe). Delete that value, and phone won't ask you again if you want to retry the CABS instalation, also it won't change your Time & Date setting again!!
IMPORTANT: After that, phone returns to original WIN 6.5.2 state, without BUGGY SE stuff. At that point, phone is usable, stable and fast. You will have about 220 MB of free space on your phone.
Now you can go further by installing some of the SE stuff, but this is all up to you, since I don't exactly know, which one causes the problems (except for SlideView and TileWave panel, as was stated in some other posts). Grab the X2 Program cab's here: R1BA023_Original_Cabs
Put the extracted cabs on your SD card, insert it into the phone, and install stuff you want. I installed those packages:
SEMCFlashDeployment.cab
SonyEricssonDialer_1.1.0.996_vulcan_generic.cab -> New Vulcan Dialer
TaskManagerSetup.cab -> Task Manager, obviously
Camera_R109_RC1_38986.cab -> necessary for Camera
CommManagerCab.cab -> Communication Manager
FastGPSSetup.cab -> without this GPS won't work, at least did not work in my case
JMMS_Ver4.5.113_26Feb10_SE_PPC.cab -> reminded by rsx19, this one is needed for MMS
After installation of those, restart the phone. At that point around 200 MB of storage space is left, and around 120 - 130 MB of ram left. Although, it is not necessary to install all of those cabs (except for Camera, which I think is needed, unless you don't want to use camera
), it is all up to you.
Also, since you requested, I'll put down some of the cabs that are needed for different settings. But keep in mind, I am not sure if anyone of those cabs make any troubles or instability. So If you find any trouble or instability after some cab was installed, let us know and together we might find some useful solution.
Ok, to install some of the aditional setting in Setting menu, first install MyCPLSetup.cab, as I discovered, this one is neccessary for following CABS for various settings:
MobileData.cab -> for mobile data settings (HSDPA, ..)
ClearStorage.cab -> installs Clean Phone Memory
PhoneSettings.cab -> updates the Phone in Settings/Personal
SetupSNM.cab -> installs new Sounds & Notifications under Settings/Personal..
For the Illumination to work, install those 2 cabs:
IlluminationSvc.cab
PatternsSetup.cab -> SE Illumination Patterns, don't forget to restart phone after you install those two, and go back to Sounds & Notifications to set the illumination for various events.
After you install those cabs (not necessary to install them all, it's up to you) restart the phone and options will show up in Settings or desired category.
Don't forget, when you finish with installation of cabs, do a restart / soft reset of the phone, since some changes may not show until a restart / soft reset is done!
Using the phone with Windows Default theme, it runs smooth. Also battery life so far seems to be improved, but will have to run it few more days to tell the difference.
So far, my phone is lightspeed fast and, which is more important - stable!! You can now also try to apply settings, royalbloodvi provided in this thread - maybe you get even better performance:
[Solution] MUST-HAVE For X2 Users! Speed Tweaks & How to Disable "Slideview" & Panels
Ok, some are still having problems with SD cards being unrecognized or disappearing, here is the patch: SD Card Fix
Accelerometer based rotation:
If you loose the rotation during the setup of CABS, and you still want to use it, this is how you turn it back on: with registry editor open (HKLM\Services\MultiService\mods\Rotation\AccelBasedRotationEnabled). If your rotation is gone, this key has the 0 value. Change it to 1 and you get your accel based rotation back. I have yet to find out, which cab disables it!
I'd like that you people give feedback in here, which CABs are safe and needed to install apart from those I (originally gbajzelj) posted.
PS
I personally don't like the idea of stripping the phone down to the bone to make it work. If you buy a new car, it works as it was send out of the factory..you don't need to unscrew half of the engine, disable the steering, take out the seets to make it work. Same is with computers, just everything. But until MR2 comes out and hopefully repairs all the damage that was done with MR1, this is the solution for me.
Also thanks to everyone helping to make this phone less bugy and somehow usable
