1. They have removed 'local update' option from updater app, hence can't install EMUI 3.1 locally

2. Copied 'update.app' to dload folder in SD card and tried Vol UP + Vol Down + Power method with EMUI3.1 update app, but it doesn't go into update mode.
(Note: vol up+down+power method work perfectly if update.app is of EMUI 4.0)

3. after going through multiple sites and threads on google, it seems that, 'downgrade' package is to be installed first and then only we can install desired package EMUI 3.1 package.

So, request you to provide some alternate way or some downgrade package to install EMUI 3.1

Why downgrade?? bcos, i can't install TWRP 2.8.7 and hence CM12.1..

# EDIT :: SOLUTION
Note: Take backup of all your data, before trying anything. Also try these at your own risk.

1. Downgrade from EMUI 4.0 to EMUI 3.1
a. Save the EMUI 3.1 'UPDATE.APP' in 'dload' folder on sd/internal card
b. go to dial pad and type *#*#2846579#*#* --> Menu will be displayed
c. select software upgrade.
(users have confirmed, this method works on EMUI 4.0) (credit -> moin khan - Honor beta fan club on facebook)

2. Downgrade from EMUI 4.0/ CM13 to EMUI 3.1
d. Save the EMUI 3.1 'UPDATE.APP' in 'dload' folder on sd/internal card
e. Extract EMUI 3.1 ‘update.app’ using Huawei update extractor on your PC (use google to find update extractor) --> you will get all img files extracted on your pc
f. connect your mobile thru USB cable and boot into fastboot mode
g. flash recovery.img, boot.img and system.img in respective areas (use google for exact commands)
h. disconnect usb and power-off your mobile
i. Now force update to EMUI 3.1 using vol up+ vol down+ power --> it will install whole EMUI3.1 thru ‘dload\update.app’ on sd card
(I have tried this method to downgrade from CM 13 to EMUI 3.1)

Firmware can be downloaded from following link..
http://consumer.huawei.com/in/support/downloads/index.htm

Please try following steps at on your risk, don't forget to take backup of ROM and data..
1. Unzip and copy 'dload' folder to SD card root (main) directory
2. Turn off phone
3. Press Volume up + volume down + power key to start Automatic update mode. Emui 4.0 will be installed.

I used above method 3-4 times, when my phone didn't boot after installing CM12.1

Try this download the emui 3.1 n huawei update.app extractor. Extract system.img boot.img and recovery.img and use adb command to flash emui 3.1 hop that works n can u give me the download link for emui 4 n why are you downgrading
And why u want to install twrp 2.xx instatal twrp 3.0.2 and why cm 12.1 when v have cm 13
I will try that method.. extracting all images..

Performance wise emui 4.0 is OK.. I haven't faced any issues yet.. some features have been removed .. but I am not very much comfortable with emui , hence want to switch to CM..

I want to install cm12.1, because of heating and some rebooting issue as per reviewed by other users..

if u flashed recovery of emui 3 or 3.1 not emui 4

Download LL 5.1 emui3.1 update.app(not MM6.0.1 emui 4)
Paste in external sd card dload/update.app

then check which recovery appears in recovery mode :twrp or emui recovery??
if emui recovery appears then

Then power off phone again .try for forced update as follows.
im not sure if this works but give a try.

press both volume button and press power on button
emui will flash LL.
later try to update to EMUI.

PS:better to take twrp nandroid back always for different ROM used

Well nvm. I did it on my own. I'll specify the steps in case anyone needs to know how it's done.
1) Downgraded to 5.1 by the above method.
2) Flashed twrp recovery using adb commands because stock recovery wouldn't work.
3) After flashing booted to twrp recovery and wiped data & dalvik cache.
4) Then flashed the stock recovery. (can't flash stock roms with twrp. twrp gives an error. stock recovery is must.) (Got the stock recovery file from the kitkat rom using huawei update extractor and flashed it using adb.)
5) Then rebooted the phone and copied the dload folder of the kitkat rom to sd card and updated it using updater app.
Back to kitkat firmware EMUI 3.0 :D Also, direct downgrade from 6.0.1 to 4.4.4 doesn't seem to work. We have to downgrade to 5.1 first.
