After months of waiting, HTC finally released an update that addresses this issue!
Go download the update here:

=== Original post follows ===

Refer to this thread and check the manufacturing date by looking at your serial number (the 2009 format):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=642459

My Titan's serial number begins with HT1C7, the 1C7 means it's manufactured on December 7th, 2011.

wpxap.com is trying to figure out which batch of Hong Kong Titans cannot install updates, and it seems Hong Kong Titans manufactured on December 7th, 2011, with a Bootloader version of 2.2.160015.3(134181) suffer from this problem. Titans manufactured after that date have a newer bootloader (134621) and can update to 8107 just fine.

Don't know if this applies to Titans sold to other markets though. (Taiwan/Europe/AT&T)

i have an ATT Titan and mine was made on november 29th. And since I can't update to 8107, it seems like you're probably right :/ My bootloader is even older than yours. 132409

I have an att titan that couldn't update at to 7740 so therefore not 8107 either but reflashing the stock 7720 build fixed my issue so I recommend trying that

Where did you get the "Stock 7720 Build"?

It's seems like mine at&t HTC Titan was built on Dec 7th 2011 - "HT1C7" first letters of serial number. And yes, I do get Error 80070013

Thanks!

So after reflashing the stock 7720 ROM you were able to update to 7740 and then to 8107?
Do you have "3G Toggle" after the update?

Thank you!

I'm on AT&T also, but I've never tried updating to 8107, I'm still on stock 7720 straight out of the box from the store. I also have bootloader 132409. I guess I'm in the same boat as you.

try this:

at step 6 when the phone is turniong off(it will say good bye) pull the USB cable out of the phone and take the battery out and then back in. When turning the phone back on, hold the up and power to put into download mode(you will see a picture of a phone and PC once its in dload mode). Once its in dload mode plug the USB back in the phone and Zune should proceed with step 7(back up) and should continue the rest of the process.

* Do this at your own risk. I will not be held responsible for any damage this might cause your phone.

So this device is sourced from Hong Kong? My device also starts with HT1C8.

Did you use this file?

IMG_Eternity_hTC_Asia_TW_1.10.709.01_Radio_16.23.02.09_A_16.24.00.23_Signed_ETERNITY_RELEASE.nbh
That is a Taiwan ROM, wouldn't flash on Hong Kong Titans unless with the gold card flashing method or a hard SPL. :(

I can confirm that this solution works! (at least on mine). I was ticked off when I found out that mine had has the problematic "bootloader" The seller didn't even tell me although they knew about it.. anyways I googled and found this from MS site http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...9/2a14d560-dfeb-47ed-b8e2-f7536435607a?page=2

You will see that some dude found it on a German website and has been proven successful for many. Anyways give it try. I am now on 8107 firmware. Shown below was my Titan info....

1. Phone Manufacturer HTC
2. Phone Model Titan
3. Mobile Operator Smart
4. Phone Operating System version 7.10.7740.16
5. Zune software version 04.08.2345.00
6. Computer Operating System version Win 7

No such luck with my Titan :( With that method, Zune can create a backup at Step 7, but at Step 8 (Installing Updates), it immediately fails, reboots my phone, and gives me a 80004005 error. :(

Does this trick for updating with the CAB's as well? That trick says its for updating with Zune, my ATT Titan doesn't have an official update, so I wanted to update it with the unofficial method
