just tried again and "no worky"
That's where you went wrong. First you need the fixed version of TWRP for May firmware. Second, dd the recovery to dev/recovery, not dev/block. The fstab doesn't work that way.

Link to that version please. Will try to find it myself also, is it in this thread? I was wondering about the 'block' part but that is how the instructions are at TWRP website ( http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/214 ) so I went with it. Thanks for the info.

Searching but not finding a fixed may twrp and I was just wondering where did those bytes go when I sent them to dev/block/ ??? utoh.

recovery recovery

I found the fixed may twrp img. It has EU in the title but I went with it! Rebooted into recovery. Only it had no idea about any partition other than boot? Is that right?

When I went to reboot it said there was NO OS installed. Is that right?

I did panic but my only choice was reboot or let it run down and die looking at the twrp screen. Thankfully it did reboot and seems to be fine.

But since it could see no other partitions I was unable to make a backup, etc. I did make a backup with MTKtools and ID numbers.

I know things have kinda slowed down here and that there is not much future for this device but like I said I just got it and even tho the boat has sailed I would still like to get in a little fishing...

Thanks for the help.

Wrong one. You want the one that says TWRP-May in the title.

You did say you were on May firmware right?

Just wanted to be sure.

Also, don't count out the device yet. There's still a KitKat port coming down the line (hopefully).

KitKat in the pipe!?!?!

WOW that would be awesome. BT4.0 support would be nice.

OK Going back to find the twrp with may in the title. Where I got this from tho was just a link that said >here< so is there a archive or someplace I can go directly? If at all possible can you point me right at the correct img for a received in late july US extreme TS with 20140527.172828_V2.0 firmware with the OTA update.

I just did read the whole thread and did not find a may link, used search and then google. not finding a twrp with may in the title. Learned a few things but not where the may twrp img is...
