Hey guys i had the same issue trying to connect my samsung epic to odin while my phone was bricked. i had the usb device not recognized issue.

i finally got it fixed after trying to uninstall drivers and installing again but that didn't help for anything but the only thing that helped is:

pull the battery out --> press&hold power+1 (to get to the download screen) --> while holding keys connect usb (battery out). odin detected it right the way then i put my battery back in. Hope this helps someone

K, I was having the same issue with my Captivate glide i927 w/stock gingerbread that is fully updated.

Also tried to do the wifi hotspot with a dd-wrt router, set to client bridge mode. No joy there, eiother. So called AT&T.

After being on the phone with techs for over an hour, also telling about the things that I have been reading here and other sites, the AT&T tech got Samsung support involve.

After a few tries and going though 2 techies, got a teir 2 tech involed and I found out something very interesting things:

Samsung has withdrawn ICS (for the captivate) from the market an:eek:d are not supporting it.

Samsung has withdrawn the Kies and are not supporting it

Due to regular auto upgrades to gingerbread that were influanced by things in ISC, Samsung is not supporting the Captivate Glide.

Samsung has no clue as to releases of fixes.

The teir 1 support at Samsung and everyone at AT&T (generally, at the lower tech levels) are un aware of the issue.

The Samsung teir one support guys recommended a hard reset and if that didn't fix the problem, send it in for them to fix...with no gaurantee that that would fix the problem.

Which, after hearing that and reading thing here and other places, that the only things that "Might" work would be with going with older drivers, but which ones, no clue. But kies is out, would seem.

Hope this helps, as I've been fighting with this since last Friday...

I ran into similar USB not being recognized. I finally got phone to download mode and using Kies downloaded drivers. Then Odin recognized the device and I was able to recover with one of Odin one click ROMs uuck.

Try bending USB tongue up

Hey guys i had the same issue ... snipsnip ...
The solution described in the obfuscated link below, namely bending the USB connector "tongue" worked for me. To say I was amazed was putting it mildly.
