You can redo it ....

Here are the steps to update your device to Developer Edition.

1. Download firmware fw_6.12.1540.4.zip from my thread and follow the instruction on how to install firmware.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60218734&postcount=5

Or you can rename the fw_6.12.1540.4.zip to 0P6BIMG.zip (that's a zero (0) not alphabet O). Make sure your pc extension is not hidden so you won't rename it to 0P6BIMG.zip.zip (with double zip)
Place it on root of microsd (not in any folder), boot to bootloader, select hboot and volume up to update when it asks you

2. Download the RUU.exe here - http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_M8_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_6.12.1540.4.exe

You need a Windows PC with USB2.0 and also install latest HTC USB drivers.
To install latest HTC USB drivers, download and install HTC Sync Manager from http://www.htc.com/us/support/software/htc-sync-manager.aspx

Install, once done uninstall Htc Sync Manager but leave others don't uninstall.

Put your device in bootloader, connect to PC, right click the RUU.exe and select run as administrator then follow all the instruction and let it run until it is completed.

Please note this will wipe everything in your internal storage ... out of the box state.
Yes my brain is remembering all this now thanks so much

Hello please see attached screen this is the error when trying to update Firmware thanks in advance ?
You typed - fastboot oem rebootruu - this is wrong
should type - fastboot oem rebootRUU - it is case sensitive

OK ... I can see you typed correctly the second time

The error says you don't have the fw_6.12.1540.4.zip in the adb/fastboot folder
or your windows extension is hidden so when you type fw_6.12.1540.4.zip it is actually become fw_6.12.1540.4.zip.zip (double zip)

When you downloaded the fw_6.12.1540.4.zip ... do you see it in your download folder as fw_6.12.1540.4 or fw_6.12.1540.4.zip ? If it is fw_6.12.1540.4 because of windows extension is hidden, you can try

fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip fw_6.12.1540.4

That's windows extension is hidden, that's why you don't see .zip on PC.

So try as I said above -

fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip fw_6.12.1540.4

no need to type .zip

Don't really get what you mean ... but as I wrote above, you can rename the file fw_6.12.1540.4.zip after you downloaded to your storage to 0P6BIMG.zip and make sure the 0P6BIMG.zip is placed on microsd not in folder. Then when you go to fastboot screen, select hboot, it will scan the zip and ask you to update. After it is done delete the file from your microsd.

Or you can rename the fw_6.12.1540.4.zip to 0P6BIMG.zip (that's a zero (0) not alphabet O). Make sure your pc extension is not hidden so you won't rename it to 0P6BIMG.zip.zip (with double zip)

After you installed the firmware, boot back to bootloader and see what is written there .. OS-6.12.1540.4 ?
(press & hold both power + volume up, once the screen turn black, release power button and press & hold volume down button, this will get you to hboot, press power once to get to bootloader/fastboot)

Now .. install RUU while your device on fastboot mode ... once completed, you can reboot normally.

Glad to see the thread is not dead yet. @ckpv5 I have the same issue as OP and most others. My getvar is:

(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 3.19.0.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 1.29.214500021.12G
(bootloader) version-cpld: None
(bootloader) version-microp: None
(bootloader) version-main: 6.12.401.4
(bootloader) version-misc: PVT SHIP S-OFF
(bootloader) serialno:
(bootloader) imei:
(bootloader) imei2: Not Support
(bootloader) meid: 00000000000000
(bootloader) product: m8_ul_ca
(bootloader) platform: hTCBmsm8974
(bootloader) modelid: 0P6B10000
(bootloader) cidnum: 11111111
(bootloader) battery-status: good
(bootloader) battery-voltage: 0mV
(bootloader) partition-layout: Generic
(bootloader) security: off
(bootloader) build-mode: SHIP
(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT
(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: 76df2b54
(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 11
(bootloader) gencheckpt: 0
all: Done!
finished. total time: 0.075s

It's similar to most others except for the product, which is m8_ul_ca. Now I'm pretty sure this won't be an issue but I'm looking to confirm just in case, before I get started installing the RUU on post #6. Thanks.
