I have a rooted factory 5.0.1 Nexus 4 and I recently tired listening to some music in my car (which has an upgraded stereo and subwoofer, etc).
I noticed while playing a music that there is no LFE - the subwoofer is not playing. I tested a few tracks from a USB drive and CD and the car system is working fine.
I tried playing music from Pandora and Google Music - nothing is playing any bass at all. Seems the Nexus 4 is not outputting any low frequencies to the car stereo.
Any suggestions are welcome, and yes I did try searching for this, but unfortunately Google thinks LFE is a typo for "life", and XDA turns up no results.
Edit: I was dumb. My stereo was set to Front speakers only on Bluetooth. Switched it to All channels.
