Hi, I recently bought an S2 from AT&T and I upgraded it from 2.3.4 to 4.1.2, when I install the famous eMMC Brick bug checker it says YES, insane chip.

Then I saw this so strange, so let's try another app.
With the Chainfire app "Got Brickbug ?" I had the same result.

But this is too strange to a noob like me, because I heard the bug is from 2.3.4 to 4.0.4. OK, so, is my phone going to brick if I wipe something?

Thanks in advance.

Why risk it? Just flash a known, good kernel.

Is Jeboo a good kernel for 4.1.2? When you flash you have root too?
To gain Root, just use Framaroot apk found here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37508806&postcount=1
I recommend that u select the tab "Install SuperSU" and then select the "Aragorn" exploit. Works flawlessly for me on i777 Stock JB 4.1.2 everytime.

And as for a kernel for i777 JB 4.1.2, i suggest AJK v4.8 "NoSwap", as of this post that is the latest version. U must use the NoSwap because of the Stock i777 u r on. Here is the thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36993409&postcount=1

I will try, but first I need the kernel.
Thank you.

I installed AJK 4.9 NoSwap but still the "Yes, insane chip" message. I don't know if this is true. Please tell me. I don't know what to do.

Thanks in advance.

AJK doesn't have the brick bug, so your app is giving you wrong information. I've used AJK for ages, performed multiple factory resets from recovery and have never had any problems.

My advice is to stop relying on third party apps to tell you whether or not a custom kernel is safe. The op in ANY kernel thread generally gives you all the information you'll need, plus you can check in their respective threads to see if any user is reporting issues.

Several different Samsung phones received kernels with the cap erase bug present. Some were bricked by it, and some weren't. In an effort to understand why, it was learned that some phones (of the same model) had a susceptibility to the bug, and others didn't. The "Yes, insane chip" message simply means that your phone is susceptible to the bug. However, if you don't have a kernel with the cap erase bug present, then no harm will come to your phone.

My phone has a chip that is susceptible, but of course, I have never had anything but a known safe kernel on it. All you need to know is that as long as you use a safe kernel, you have no worries. Remember that this problem occurred quite a long time ago, and Samsung has eventually understood the problem and prevented it from re-occurring, although they have never acknowledged it publicly. Anything Jelly Bean would be safe, even stock. And anything custom would be safe, because the developer would make sure the cap erase bug was not present.
