I don't like the default music player on the SGS for only one reason.
There is no skip, previous function when it is on the headset.

For this reason, I installed the default music player from the nexus one/stock android.
I did all this without needing to root(waiting for stable nandroid 'coz my ROM is not listed anywhere on samsung firmwares.) :D :D

The original SGS Music player is still installed.

The headset works perfectly with this now(Double click now goes to the next song)!!!!!

The only issue is that now when I press the headset button, the default Music Player starts playing as well(even if I force kill the service from the running services).
It's like I'm toggling from one music player to the other.

Any soln.?

If I root the device what apk do I have to delete?

::::UPDATE::::

I did a nandroid recovery(if any Indian SGS needs a nandroid backup of DDJF3 if you have to send the device for repairs just ask me)
I have removed the MusicPlayer.apk as well as the MusicPlayer.odex from system/app
and installed the default music player from nexus one.
Everything works fine.
FLAC still works and phone works normally as if nothing ever happened.

I am unable to upload attachments here or link attachments to my site.
If I could, I would upload the Nexus one music player and the SGS MusicPlayer.apk and the MusicPlayer.odex

thats my problem with the default player too
although i love the sound of the default player, and the eq, custom eq and the auto eq settings are the best ive seen in any player
also the 5.1 srs made my triplefi10 even better than before
i mailed samsung and the acknowledged the suggestion
one thing i noticed too, the underlying service on the default player is named coreplayer
i dont know of any android port of the coreplayer from winmo, but the winmo coreplayer is one of the best players around

Could you please share with us how did you do this (got the nexus one app, installed it)? I know these questions might be silly ones I am new to Android (switched from iPhone a week ago) and am really missing the skip functionality.

To get the app google droid-life.com nexus one music app (I cannot post links) Second link should take you to the website with the app and instructions how to install it.

I can confirm it works as described above :)

Dont post your email id's here.

Got to www. google. com /ncr
Type "nexus one music player for milestone"

Scrooll down and click on "AndroidHD - News: Milestone Android 2.1 - Nexus one style (UPDATED)"

Scroll down and click on "5. music app 2.1"

Download it.

Now keep it aside.
Next root your device like here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728754

Next using root explorer or a terminal(command prompt on pc), perform the folln. steps

Navigate to system/app/

MOVE MusicPlayer.odex and MusicPlayer.apk to your sdcard under a folder named backup.

Next plug in the usb cable on your pc to your phone.

Pull down the notification tray and select mount drive.
Copy the Nexus one apk to your sdcard.

Pull down the notification bar again and turn off the drive.

Using myfiles open the root of your sdcard and install the apk by just clicking and installing it.

hmm, any idea whether this fix will work on other earphones such as the sennheiser ie8 that does'nt come with external hardware buttons like the default headset? meaning we double click the vol + or vol - hard buttons on the SGS itself to skip/rewind tracks... thanks....

NO. The volume up/down will only work to change volume.
You will have to either build yourself something that does that or find an app that does that.

Buddy i am from india. Can you give me the link for DDJF3. Have you tried reinstalling DDJF3 and check if it works?
Because on other forum many people have reported that this nandroid DDJF3 ROM doesnt recover the "Cell Radio" (Baseband)version of the phone. So Samsung guys can still know that you have flashed a different ROM.:(
But in your case you will be fine becoz you have not flashed any other beta ROM.;)

I've done a lot of experiments with my device and have always reverted to ddjf3 using the nandroid that I had initially made. My phone, pda, csc all stay the same, I.e . Ddjf3.

The nandroid is on my website. I'll give u a link in the evening.
I don't have the ddjf3 rom. Just the nandroid backup without root.

Sorry I can't help you there. I was doing some reading and http://androidforums.com/all-things...eband-backed-up-spr-cwmr-nand.html#post671189

Your baseband is not backed up.
You will not get your baseband back to ddjf3 unless you flash your device.
*Stupid n00b mistake by me*

I've done the music headset without buttons thinggy

Use the Music apk from here and the apk i am providing here.

Its not perfect but i'm working on it.

I need some help from some android programmers with receiving button clicks when the screen is off.

I do not fully understand services and broadcast receivers as yet.
How do i intercept button clicks when the screen is off?
Code examples or a tutorial will be of great help.

If any android programming guru can help me i'd appreciate it very much.
