you have to flash in edl mode not fastboot so google on how to take redmi 3s into edl mode then you can flash the rom in locked bootloader.in redmi 3 we use volume up and volume down and power button.press all three at the same time and it will take u to edl mode.screen becomes all black but if you plug it to ur computer and press refresh in miflash then it will show as com 10 or 20.thats for redmi 3.maybe redmi 3s has the same steps
I am able to boot in edl but mi flash tool gives error :- THE WRITE TIME OUT.

Hi,

I have a Redmi 3 phone. Not a 100% sure if it is 3/3S/Pro/Prime. I think 3 Pro.

A couple of days ago, during normal use, it suddenly shut down and went into boot loop.

The bootloader is locked.

I can go into fastboot, download or recovery mode. I think the best way to unbrick is with this guide. But the computer does not recognize the device and lists it as "Unknown Device". I've tried to install the Qualcomm drivers, but with no luck. When I choose "Have Disk" and select the drivers from the Flashtool installation, or any other driver package I find online, it says "the folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible driver, make sure it is designed to work with windows for x64-based systems"

I've tried on a Windows 7 x64 and a Windows 10 x64 system with the same result.

It sounds a lot like noersetiawan's story, but I've tried many times to remove the device, reinstall and reboot without succes.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Additionally, I've tried a third x64 Win7 Laptop with the same result "Unkown Device".
Funny thing is, the Win 10 computer initially recognized the Device as "QHSUSB_BULK". But at that time I didn't know the proper installation method yet and let Windows search for drivers. Then it ended up as "Unknown Deivce". I can't seem to get back to the "QHSUSB_BULK" version. I'm trying to do a system restore to a point before the first time I tried to connect it, but it failed to restore so far.

I've also tried a Win10 x64 installation within Virtualbox, but can't find the device at all.

Also, here's where I bought the phone. So I guess it's a 3S.

Update:

I formatted my pc and installed Windows 10 x64.

It recognized the phone without a problem, I didn't even have to download drivers!

I was so happy to finally see it pop up in the miflash tool.

Then I clicked Flash, with the option "Except data and storage".

I started flashing and got stuck at Send Configure.

The log file shows Insufficient storage errors. Similar to this guy.

I disconnected it and now it's stuck on the mi logo. It only respondsed to going in to fastboot. (Power + Vol Down). I can't go into download mode anymore.
But the bootloader is locked so I can't do anything.

Since the phone doesn't shutdown anymore I'm afraid it will drain the battery. So I found someone saying to Press Vol Up, Down and Power to shut it down. It didn't shut down, but I got into some MI Recovery 3.0 menu. It looks a little like this one. AI tried Wipe All Data. It completed but doesn't make a difference.

Then I went into fastboot and tried this option. It didn't go in to download mode, and now my computer won't even recognize the phone anymore in Fastboot mode.

:crying: Anybody?

Ok so I decided, screw it, and went with the test point method to try and get back into download mode.

Quite exciting, I have to say, but it worked!

In hindsight it was pretty easy and straight forward.

I used an updated version of miFlash (7.4.25) this time and chose the "clean all" option.

What a ride. Thanks for reading.

I have a locked bootloader. Somehow forgotten the lockscreen pattern and debugging was not turned on.
I have pictures of my infant for past 2 years in the phone.
I am wondering if this method could get me through the lockscreen pattern when I flash the latest version of the rom. Also would I be able to have the pictures of my baby. Can I install it without wiping the data and can acess to them?

I am waiting for some advice. Please help :(
