Haha well it isn't anymore, but still working 95% of the time. Usually after I boot i just turn the screen on and off a couple times using it and then it is good to go.

In my experience I have found that it normally works soon after you turn off the screen. Its when it has been off for a while that it does not work. I believe this has been pointed out in previous posts.

It seems to be some sort of power saving feature that kills power to the track pad after being asleep for a certain amount of time.

I feel like this thread has been going in circles with people rediscovering the same thing. I think the [solved] status on the title is also hurting us a little.

Sorry I have nothing new to add to this discussion, other than frustration.

ihtfp60:
Everyone, try this. It does the same thing but it doesn't alter any system files. You can flash this using recovery or ROM Manager
This worked well but the button response is too inconsistent for my taste. How do I uninstall? I removed the "ojwake-signed" file from system/user/keylayout directory with a root file manager but even after a reboot the optical button still wakes turns on the screen.

PS- since I removed the file it actually seems to work better. A single long press will always turn it on. A short press only works if it hasn't been off too long. I think I will leave it like this but would still like to know how to reverse it!

No-go for me. :(

So far I have...
Extracted the file via Root Explorer into folder (nada) and tried Flashing Update.Zip and OjWake2.Zip... and Zipo.

Running Redemptive rEVO Rom.

qwerty.kl for this reads:
key 272 DPAD_CENTER WAKE

Am I missing something or is it a limitation of my setup?
Create a file called curcial-oj.kl with the following one line it

key 272 DPAD_CENTER WAKE_DROPPED

Then just copy the file into \system\usr\keylayout and reboot and it should work

This is apparently an issue with the RR rom. I just flashed a copy of Myn's TwoPointTwo and it works great!
I just used the info below and used ROOTEXPLORER to edit the file and then rebooted my phone.

I have only been using it for about 15 minutes but it seems to work fine so far. This is on Redemtive Revolution 2.1.3

Navigated to /system/usr/keylayout and edited qwerty.kl

Probably don't need a backup. The only difference between the two qwerty.kl's is one line entry.

Original qwerty.kl has:
Code:
key 232 DPAD_CENTER WAKE_DROPPED
New qwerty.kl has:
Code:
key 272 DPAD_CENTER WAKE
What I don't understand is that the original file is calling DPAD_CENTER key 232 when its actually 272. Why is this? Did they [HTC] do this on purpose?

Right on. Not sure what was so different in my setup.

i did a manual edit on the file (changed key 232 to key 272 etc) and left everything the same but this did not work on the r2droid OMGB gingerbread rom..

did anyone get this to work recently, especially on the gingerbread rom?
