Sonic Open Kang Project

This is my first crack at SOKP. I hope you enjoy it!

Make sure to do a clean wipe before you flash.

NOTE - Upon installation the screen goes black (not blank), but after it updates all the programs the first time, it will start in with a regular setup menu. Just be patient, it didn't crash. And it's only on the first boot.

Downloads:
SOKP 5.1.1
SOKP Ultra Slim Gapps

I have tested this thing personally, and I can say it's worth a flash if you want to see what the ROM is like. Their sources aren't as up to date as AICP or CM, but it's close. I did notice some FCs, and a random reboot, but 5.1 is still new. I was just glad I got it to build. I can't say the same for other ROMs out there.

Update - After even further testing I can say that something is wrong with the phone app, where if you try to start it, it FCs. That's a flaw major enough where I wouldn't use this ROM until it's fixed. The good news is, now that I've built it once, I can re-build with updates pretty easily as they roll out.

Newest build posted (4/23). Seems to work fine, and it is the only 5.1.1 that I have working mobile data with so far. No FCs yet, and phone app works fine.
SOKP had switched bases from CM to AOSP. It made building the ROM a real kick in the taint (especially for htc devices), so they switched back to CM. I'd imagine you've been trying some SOKP builds lately without success. If so, that's why.

If you give it another go you may have better luck now.

Actually, no. SOKP was the easiest ROM to both setup and build so far. But I haven't been building it for too long. So I don't know at what point I was looking at things, whether on CM sources or AOSP. I can say that I patched it with CM sources, and it went flawlessly.

You are very much welcome. I plan on keeping the Jewel alive as long as my device keeps kicking. I'm not the kind of guy to upgrade if something works fine. As for your bluetooth questions, I can't personally be of help. I can say that I have heard issues others had on AICP, and I imagine they exist on other ROMs as well. I don't know of any fixes or workarounds for the troubles. There is always a chance that someone else will spot the issue(s), and resolve them in an update. Otherwise, you'll have to resort to an older ROM build that you know works.

The most solid one that I have seen is AICP. SOKP is easy to build, but I don't think it's as solid. As for the APN thing, it's some sort of security feature. it's not that there aren't any APNs, it's that they're hidden. ON other ROMs, I had luck by switching to LTE mode(s) and then going back into the APN settings. Then they showed up. But it doesn't work on them all. It's the very reason that I don't use Pac-Man at all. Ting isn't auto-detected.

Since @rootaddict71 had some good success with this ROM, I decided to give it another shot. I think I missed a couple of features that AICP has. So I decided to give it another go. For one thing, I give it a HUGE plus, because it actually auto-detected my APN settings the way that it should. I didn't have to fiddle with anything. And I haven't noticed anything wierd yet. I'll keep using this ROM for further testing.

UPDATE - I got a random reboot, and I noticed some trouble with SMS. Sometimes it was fine, other times, it didn't want to send/receive. It's possible some settings are off, but I can't edit them. I'm gonna stick with AICP.
