Just wanted to point out that DEFY+ is IP67 certified. So, yeah, the DEFY maybe doesn't have the official badge, but it was just another marketing trick to make people believe they actually improved the phone in multiple ways (CPU, chipset, graphics, IP67 certificate...things are different on DEFY and DEFY+ according to Motorola), while they are actually the same.

To make sure I was on topic - I find the Xperia line-up very ugly. If a real DEFY 2 doesn't show, my next phone will be an ATRIX 2 :p
we'll i guess design appeal is really more of a personal inclination. although i find my xperia Acro HD's design to be the loveliest out there, i know a lot more people would disagree, still a lot more wouldn't care. as it is, personal preference.
if i could get the innards of S3 inside my Xperia Acro HD...with Nokia's pureview camera...wait - is that chocolate stain on your tie?

Its shame that some countries(or just mine) will not have this great phone..i dont know really why. They have said(local SONY support) that the current flagship Xperia S is good enough for everyone and there is no need for another model ;LOL . :crying:

oh don't get me wrong there, bud. nothing about devs in general and here at XDA in particular.
my point being was - Sony's tough stance on keeping their phones superlocked - with bootloaders locked(and encrypted) in a way that makes it difficult for devs high and low to come up with diverse ROMs and mods, keeps the flashaholic community to a minimum level.
and yeah CM did very excellent (sorry for the double supras) job of porting ICS and even JB(in the works to most 2011 line). unlimited props to the team. and that was CM - not SE.compare it to both Samsung and HTC communities where in just a matter of weeks they'd have the ports ready and working, it took about what, a year for SE to brush in to the ICS bandwagon?..
also, look at the price range for an SE dual core device, almost up there with the far-quads.
talk about design, props to SE - i mean they make the loveliest phones out there. (exactly why i bought my ACRO HD).
i'm no big fan of SE - or any OEM for that matter - what matters to me is the experience i get out of a phone - or a device - or a product. And this is where SE loses big time to most big players year after year.
if my Acro HD has got better innard - like a quad maybe, this is going to be my phone for the next two years or so. no i'm highly tempted to get an S3.
again, please..don't tramp me just yet...i'm no hater.
and thanks for the reply. i appreciate being corrected constructively.
Just a tip: the MSM8260 lying inside the Acro line is a Cortex A15 phone, which is, on most benchmarks, better than most quad-core phones out there (the tests were realized with HTC One XL and HTC One S as MSM8260/MSM8960's - the only diff is 8960 having LTE support - and Galaxy S3 [Exynos 4412] & HTC One X [Tegra 3] as quad-cores). When not beating the quad-cores, they got nearly the same performance. That with half the cores and a previous generation GPU (Adreno's new gen specifications were not ready at time for the release of Qualcomm's S4 line). My bet: keep it. It's nothing but a performance monster, which will eat out most of the phones out there, or, at least, be at the same level, with less batt consumption (less cores = less energy needed - plus, the screen is just great with that size and needs less light to be fully iluminated) and having an actual IP57 certification. Against HTC One XL (I think the most approximate competitor phone), it also has expandable memory, better camera, higher capacity batt (which lasts even longer because of the smaller screen), higher pixel density (which, honestly, is barely noticeable at that DPIs) and better multitouch out of the box, losing only by not having LTE, a slightly worse GPU (Adreno 225 vs 220), and a worse display tecnology (usual LED-backlit against Super IPS LCD2), which the Reality Display may (we'll know when they both get compared) make up for.

OK, my bad. I though that the CPU inside the Acro phones was a MSM8260A, but it turns out that it is just a MSM8260. Small difference in the name, huge diff in reality: the 8260 is a Snapdragon S3, the same CPU used on the usual Xperia S. That means: it's not the Ferrari-like CPU I though it was. It's still something BMW-like, but its performance is no match for the 8260A. In the link below there are some benchmark results from AT&T One X (8960A), compared to the usual One X (Tegra 3), Samsung Galaxy S3 (Exynos 4412), Xperia S (8260), and other devices. One can clearly see that the 8260 is not bad, but also no match for the newer generation one.
Sorry if I misled you :/

The Xperia TX will have S4... it's got the specs you were talking about...
Dual core Krait, Adreno 225 (meh), 1GB RAM, 16GB ROM and a microSD slot.
And it's water, dust and shock resistant.

And its got a 4.5 inch screen.
All in an 8.8mm thick chassis.
Now THAT is a dream phone.
(Except the Adreno 225, that is.)

Xperia TX is the name for the japanese market, in the rest of the world is going to be xperia V, best of all, it is supposed to be a mid range device, so maybe is not going to be so expensive, my next phone surely, its almost perfect.

TX- http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_tx-4959.php

8.6mm thick. No LTE.

V- http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_v-4958.php

10.7mm thick. With LTE.

Seems to be no other difference.
But 8.6mm is hot!

This ( http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/phones/xperia-j/specifications/) seems to be the midrange handset...

T and TX will probably be flagship.
V will be the premium LTE phone.

So I expect it won't be as cheap as we expect, my friend.
Sony always overprices anyway.
But their quality is topnotch. Only HTC can compare. And HTC seems to have fallen in love with Tegra 3 of late... :(

Damn, well, at least I hope they fix the issues of the xperia t in those other 2 versions: bad camara quality, bad volume, and poor battery life.

Can anyone comment on voice quality of Defy vs AcroS? Especially OUTGOING voice quality?
dont know about acro s, but defy has a very good voice quality (crystaltalk) because of the secondary mic on the back of the phone, so not many phones can compete with it...

aaaand...
acro s vs v:
msm8260 vs msm8960
adreno 220 vs adreno 225
no lte vs lte
bt 3 vs bt 4
12mp vs 13mp
1910mah vs 1750mah

and acro s will be probably significantly cheaper.
i dont care about either lte or bt4, and the msm8260 is more than enough for me... i care much more about battery life...
for me, acro s is a definite win.

If Moto doesn't release a decent new version of the DEFY (something like DEFY HD), my next phone's gonna be the DROID RAZR i. That thing is both a beaty and a beast.

Just my 2 cents...

motos hardware in their devices is quite decent, but their update policy and their attitude towards their customers made me look for another manufacturer. i wont forget that they left the defy (one of their most successful phones) on 2.2, when it could easily run even 4.0...

Defy HD....sounds hot . !!!! ..sigh ..I wish

BTW..razr m much better I think. Intel's 2 gig single core chip not sooo good against that s4 beast from Qualcomm..!!!

I don't know what my next phone will be, but I'm certain It'll have either Krait Pro, Cortex A15 or Atom Dual core...
The big shame is, no android graphics ever come even close to matching Apple.
iPhone 5's SGX543*3 has everything else beat hands down...
Maybe nex-gen Mali won't be so bad...
>
And as for Moto, I'll be avoiding those ba*tards as much as possible.
No sense of customer entitlement at Moto...
>
Anyway, their RAZR design language doesn't suit my tastes...
