Remember that the acro s also has 16gb vs the v with 8. Both have microsd slots but on the surface the acro s does seem better. I have yet to hold the acro s but its pretty big and heavy when compared to the defy or even the v.

We will see though, I want to know if the v will fully work on tmo USA and hold both before I buy.

I think you are correct. The biggest difference to me is the weight. The acro s is almost 50 grams heavier. The v is about the same weight as our defys. I have not played with either yet but I am going to see the acro s soon. I'll report back when I do. I was sold with wet finger tracking.

Moto had better get their **** together & announce a new defy thats at least better than the previous, there was nothing plus about the plus, & the mini/ XTs are just a joke,
Of course it was probably far fetched to think they would keep me interested beyond just one model
Its prob back to Sony after the Defy has just become the new V3
Epic Fail!....

acro s led backlit lcd vs. xperia v capacitive tft... huge difference! i dont want a display which is unreadable under direct sunlight (like the defy's)...
and all right, the v has msm8960 vs. the acro s' msm8260 (45 vs. 26nm), but it doesnt make that much of a difference in power consumption that would allow the v to have a 1750mAh battery vs. the acro s' 1910mAh.
and dont forget that the acro s' hardware is almost identical to the xperia s (except the microsd extension), and the sxs has aosp, thus probably much longer software support.
and about dimensions: theyre almost the same, except the acro s is a bit thicker. considering the bigger battery thats normal.
so for me the acro s is the definite winner.
oh, one more thing: the v has no capacitive buttons, only onscreen, so that takes up space on the screen, while the acro s can use the full 4.3"...

IMO not worth it.
Sony is known for less Development.
also , if you plan to upgrade and u already want to buy a new phone , buy a device that'll fill your reqs.
I Don't know what you like the most but the GPU part is one of most important components if looking for a good gaming in the future ( for example Mali-400 , the SGX 540 is a real problem for his existence in most of the android phones , that's why the RAZR is ashamed when compared to SGS 2 , the Galaxy Nexus same problem ) check it well b4 you buy.
good luck!

i rarely play games on my phone, so until it can handle 1080p mkv videos and browsing flash websites flawlessly, im okay with that. and the adreno 220 is a quite decent gpu imo.
i need its waterproofness, its 720p 4.3" led display, nfc, sdcard extension, and i love the design :)
and of course, the unlockable bootloader and 'almost' aosp support.

Do you own the device now? How is it holding up to the expectations? Im finding myself looking for a replacement for my Defy. The xperia z etc is out of my budget reach so I was wondering how the Xperia arc S is doing.

Hmm my bad; I meant the acro s instead of the arc s. Because I want to have the same features in terms of design as my defy (water and dust-proof) I was more looking for the Acro S.
About the xperia S; many reviews state that the action buttons on the bottom or irresponsible, is that still the case or did they fix this with an update?

I bit the bullet in January on the Xperia acro s and I love it. I thoughhgt it would be big and heavy and would have major battery drain. I was wrong, its comfortable, fast, great battery life with wifi, GPS, 3/4g, nfc, bluetooth on and a medium level of screen brightness and Bluetooth audio, I get 18 hrs to a charge with about 20% left. The developer section is dead compared to the defy but honestly I like the Sony interface and widgets so much that I have not felt the need to flash anything, and I was a habitual flasher on my defys.

I paid 440 including tax and shipping and I'd be happy do drop it again for another. The wet finger tracking is a godsend coming from the defy.

I had one xperia v.
The original software sucks....
Also the sound in the war was very weak.
I hate big screen phones because i can not handle sith one hand only.
Defy + is the best i chose...
I had Atrix 4g, Htc desire x ....
Defy + is perfect...
