Thanks for sharing the steps. I am new to android and got this tablet from Woot deal.

However, I missed a step during the process. After I completed 3.2.1r2 update, got rooted by AIO tool, I started to create decrypted update.zip. When entering the recovery mode, I had a big mistake here: skip the step to update "install.zip" file first and just update "signed-nbx03_001-ota-120803002.zip" file directly. I finally got a ICS without rooted. I am wondering if there is any way to go back or fix, since I have rooted it on 3.21r2 successfully and have rescue-door installed when it was 3.21r2. Does factory reset in recovery mode or flashing a pre-rooted 3.21 works?

Thank you

Nope. It is screwed. You flash a stock rom. Therefore the backdooor etc are gone. You can check this by looking in vendor.prop under the vendor folder.

Thanks for reply,

I got those in vendor.prop, does that mean the tablet is in latest stock rom?

ro.sony.update.service_id=nbx03_001
ro.sony.sku.base=nbx03_001
ro.sony.build.id=TISU0R0010110
ro.sony.build.incremental=120803002

Yes, you are updated to the latest stock ROM, 4.0.3 release 1a, but unfortunately, not rooted. :( You will not be able to root until someone discovers a way to do it, hopefully by discovering a way to unlock the tablet's bootloader.

The reason for saying no to add root at the time it is said is because (1) the tablet's HC Android 3.2.1 is (must be) already rooted and (2) the rooted and signed ICS Android 4.0.3 update file custom_update_signed.zip has not been created yet.
The other reason for saying no to root at that particular point in 2.7's steps was that because the AiO tool wasn't copying the update over like it should, there was nothing to root until I manually moved everything about. Pretty important step to make sure was working - can't believe Condi missed it tbh!

EDIT: Got it to work. I needed to install the Java 64bit SDK in order to sign the zips for flashing. Also at the end it did not copy over the custom_update_signed.zip to the SD card when it was in the tablet. I had to copy it over after flashed the install.zip in the last section of steps.

OP, I'm currently stuck on the step where I'm supposed to create the decrypted update.zip [+optional make custom]. The AiO turns red and says build.incremental value is too high.

I have Android version 3.2.1 (release2), Kernel version 2.6.36.3 [email protected] #1, and Build number THMASU0012400.

You can change it manualy. It is under build.prop in system folder. Use root explorer, set as r/w and long click on build.prop and select open with text editor, then change the number to a lower one. it is under something like: ro.sony.build.incremental, being the keyword. Then mount system as r/o. Then try again.

It appears you need to run Condi's AiO tool's Install "rescue-backdoor" tweak. Watch BluechipJ's video from 02:08 to 03:37. If the red screen you saw matches the red screen shown in the video, then run the Install "rescue-backdoor" tweak as instructed in the video.

Hi guys:
I need some helps here. I too got the Sony tablet from the Woot deal.
The original Android version on the device was the same as some of you have posted here.
- Android version 3.2
- Kernel version 2.6.36.3 [email protected] #1
- Build number 1.10.001100001

I followed the instructions on one of the threads about downgrade to <build10, and were able to root my tablet to version 3.2.1 (r2).

I then proceeded to try to pre-root the ics image without any success. Thinking that I might have done some of the steps incorrectly, I decided to start all over again by going to the recovery mode, and overriding my rooted tablet with the below image again.
<Android 3.2.1r2(US) file signed-nbx03_001-ota-0042.001.zip>

Now, my unrooted device has the following Android version info:
- Android version 3.2.1 (release2)
- Kernel version 2.6.36.3 [email protected] #1
- Build number THMASU0012400

My question is, should the build number be 5 instead of 10 ? I attempted to put the above mentioned image (zip file) via recovery mode again, but it gives me the following error:

E:prohibit update as a result of checking version or base sku

Is there a way out for me ? :D

It is not clear how you got it there, but now that your tablet is at 3.2.1r2 with kernel build 10, your tablet cannot be rooted. You will have to wait until a fix is found.

You probably want to use India region update file instead of US file. Find update file via Stifilz's All Sony Tab OTA Update Links post.

Read BluechipJ's Automated ADB Driver Installer for Sony Tablet S and P post.

Because you have installed 3.2.1r2 for US, you will now need to use Condi's ALLinONE v4.0 (not v4.1) to change your region from US to India. After doing that, download 4.0.3r1a for India and (again using Condi's ALLinONE v4.0) pre-root and install 4.0.3r1a for India. Please read carefully.

I just want to make all things clear before proceeding :)

I have connect Tablet to PC,

Completed ADB Driver Installation

Downloaded all the four files

Links to files used:
Android 3.2.1r2(US) file signed-nbx03_001-ota-0042.001.zip
Android 4.0.3r1a(US) file signed-nbx03_001-ota-120803002.zip
Condi's ALLinONE v4.0 tool file S.onyTablet.S__ALLinONE__v4.0.7z
Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.29 file ADB_v1.0.29.zip
Now copied Android 3.2.1r2(US) file signed-nbx03_001-ota-0042.001.zip to SD Card

Booted into Recovery mode and chosen "Apply update from SD card"

Installation started.... and some other process went like verifying for 10 seconds and

ERROR

E:prohibit update as a result of checking version or base sku

Installation aborted

Chosen to Restart my tablet without applying any update :(

Because you have installed 3.2.1r2 for US, you will now need to use Condi's ALLinONE v4.0 (not v4.1) to change your region from US to India. After doing that, download 4.0.3r1a for India and (again using Condi's ALLinONE v4.0) pre-root and install 4.0.3r1a for India. Please read carefully.

4.0.3r1a India WIFI Only for SGPT111IN/S and SGPT112IN/S

4.0.3r1a India WIFI+3G for SGPT113IN/S
I didn't installed any update, just tried to install but it was failed with error mentioned above.

Now my tablet current status
see the attachment

As I already mentioned that my Tablet is Indian version so went to Tablet S updates and downloaded

4.0.3 R1A
info.update.sony.net/ST006/nbx03_027/contents/0004/signed-nbx03_027-ota-120803077.zip

Now what's next ?

I think I need Indian version of 3.2r2 which was removed

3.2.1R2
REMOVED FILENAME: signed-nbx03_026-ota-0042.002.zip

Unfortunately, you did not do that. What exactly are you trying to do?

According to the photograph you posted, you already have 4.0.3r1a installed and you said you are trying to install 3.2.1r2. You cannot (easily) install 3.2.1r2 if you already have 4.0.3r1a installed, and that is why you are getting the error message "E:prohibit update as a result of checking version or base sku, Installation aborted."

Is your 4.0.3r1a not rooted and you are now trying to root it? If yes, you cannot use Condi's ALLinONE v4.0 to root it; instead, you have to use the method described in WonderEkin's Tablet S 4.0.3 r1a Rooted thread to root it.

Ohh..... now its clear , I thought you downgraded your OS from 4.0.3r1 to 3.2.1r2 and used Condi's ALLinONE v4.0 and then upgraded to ICS.

Yes my tablet was upgraded to ICS long back,now i should go for WonderEkin's method Thanks for all your support and info :) :)
