Looked on the Sony website, noticed that the Tablet S has been removed from the UK site.

Went on though for the covers, yesterday there where no covers available, looked today and the keyboard cover was on sale.

Phoned up my local of which i'm a regular, they had one in stock, bought straight away and love it, the keyboardi s capacitve and takes a while to get used to but love this device now, its the best available!

IR remote learning function

Has anyone else had issues getting the tablet to learn IR remote commands? So far, I really like my Xperia Tablet S, except for the fact that the IR remote will not learn any commands from any of my remotes. This was one of the features that made me choose this tablet over others, and now I'm trying to decide if I want to keep it. My remotes play nice with another remote I have that learns commands, so I don't think it's any of the reasons Sony lists on their site for the table not learning the commands. I would exchange it for another to see if it's a hardware problem, but can't because they don't have them at Amazon ATM due to the recall.

I emailed Sony support and the reply implied that it was a known issue, and to watch the website for a resolution. Is this something that could even be fixed with a software update? If not I need to go ahead and return it because my window is running out. It's a shame, because otherwise the tablet is really nice. I just don't think it's worth the $$ if it's not working 100% as advertised.

The keyboard cover is pretty nice, there are some few kinks in it like how sometimes it also brings the on screen keyboard, but overall I like it it is really useful for when I'm in class taking notes with it. Especially since I have terrible hand writing makes everything more legible and I jot the notes down way quicker. I'm typing with it right now as a matter of fact.

I've also noticed a homescreen performance improvement since Release 5, when you held you finger down on the screen and moved screens, the framerate used to be terrible, horrid actually, hasn't changed on the Sony Tablet S, but on the Xperia, the home screen transitions are perfect.

I think they've got a good product here.

I have the same problem. Feels better now that I know Im not alone. It can learn from a remote. Accepts every 20th attempt on average. The app also have a tenancy to crach. Another drawback on the remote is that it sends keys very slow or lag. So 10 wont work because the 0 is sent to late. The I love the Ide about build in remote but the implementation makes i barely usable and a major pain as I have lots of keys left to learn.

Yer i've noticed this too fellas - with me, the tablet needs to be pointed right towards the TV for it to take notice of my commands, wasn't like that with the Tablet S last year.

xperia tablet GPS: better than tablet s?

Hi guys,
has anyone noticed any improvements in the GPS department?
I own a tablet s and I've always found the GPS to be quite slow and inaccurate: has this changed with the new xperia tablet?
thanks
;)

Good news, sales are gonna resume in mid-November.

Unfortunately with the recent nexus 10 leak I'm personally not as interested into this tablet as I was before.

Yes, I agree... Bad luck in execution timing.

Specs wise, Nexus 10 looks more bang for the buck, and Android4.2 just took the idea of Sony's new multi user feature.
Nexus devices have the promise of earliest future updates but I want to have a well executed device from day 1... Maybe when sales resume I could finally try out the device in a local store before I decide.

Here's hoping Sony will drop this tablet a little in price or at least throw in adapters for free given Nexus 10 also being available in Nov with the Christmas season coming to make it a more compelling choice. ;)

Is the Xperia tablet S also bootloader unlockable like the Xperia phones?

I'd be happy with Jelly Bean on this just for the Project Button.

Not bothered about 4.2, doesn't bring anything that interests me except from the camera and gallery which i've already got ported over from the Android Apps & Games board!

As already said, I expect Google has taken the idea of Guest mode from Sony, it's a pretty unique idea that i'd doubt many people have ever thought off.

Don't like the design of the Nexus 10, looks a little cheap, bezel's to big and corners to rounded for my liking.

Has anyone sent in their tab for the inspection? If so, have you gotten a response yet? I don't really care so much about the water resistance, but I wonder if they would also take a look at the IR remote problem.

What do the owners of the Xperia Tablet S think about the old kernel in 4.0.3 FW? Is this a problem in daily use, for example WLAN stability, battery optimizations...?
