Yes towelroot works in kitkat. Issues with new update is battery drain.Glad that Sony has finally rolled out KitKat for Indian XZ... Can't wait to update.. However a few questions... as I need Root after update..
1) Does the OTA Rootkeeper preserve root after update?
2) Or Does TowelRoot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157 work on KitKat for XZ?
3) Has anyone rooted yet?
4) Any issues with the new update?
Thanks a ton guys.. Keep up the good work
Cheers

Quite Stable update...Make sure u restore the phone to factory settings after update..and no battery drain due to google services..but battery consumption is a little bit high compared to 4.3..Maybe bcoz of the live wallpaper of AIR theme..its nice actually:good:Can someone confirm if by doing following the battery drain issue is resolved?

Sony has confirmed that it has detected the battery drain issues of the mentioned devices, and this problem has to do with Google Play Services. The company hasn’t provided a specific date for a fix, but it should roll-out very soon. The Sony Support forum statement reads:
We have investigated the issue with Google Play Services using a lot of battery and we have identified that the root cause of this is related to the latest version of Google Play Services (4.4.52).
Until a new version of Google Play Services is provided by Google we urge users to either uninstall the latest update of Google Play Services (might limit use of Google Services like YouTube) or go to Settings > Google (accounts) > Ads > Tick the box for Opt out of interest-based ads and also disable back up of your data by going to Settings > Backup & reset (Personal) > uncheck the box for “Back up my data”.
If you are unable to uninstall the update for Google Play Services from Settings > Apps, go to Settings -> Security -> Device administrators and disable “Android Device Manager”. Also check the settings in the Play Store so that automatic updates is not enabled as this may update Google Play Services again automatically.
