So, this may be a simple question to answer, I'm just trying to be on the safe side.
My phone was left in my car's center console for several months continuously (had a broken screen, forgot it was in there). I live in central Texas, where on a hot summer day, temperatures can easily reach 42 C. So, if the phone was in there, it was probably continuously exposed to temperatures probably higher than that due to it being inside. What all can be damaged with heat like that? It was never in direct sunlight or anything like that, just exposed to heat.
I'd assume the battery probably wouldn't work as well, but can any other components be damaged? Or am I probably safe?
I'm finally have the money to buy a replacement digitizer assembly. I just want to make sure before I invest the money, the phone hasn't meanwhile become, "toast".
Thanks for any help!
normally, when the phone is turned off, there will be no damage from such "low" temperatures (compared to the CPU temperatures of up to 80° Celsius while in use)... but check the battery voltage when you dissassemble it.. if it is below 3v, you have to externally charge it before you reassemble the stuff or it probably wont charge.

Try a software repair on a computer using Sony PC companion
Hey,
i have tried this now several times with pc companion and Flashtool with the newest MM.
My problem is the folliwing: Screen was broken, replaced it and spent some extra on a new battery as the old wasnt good anymore. Built it all together and started it. no issues so far.
Then the phone sat around my desk for 2 days, constantly showing exactly 50% Battery.
Now today i wanted to install a custom firmware as it was still on stock, but the Phone was off and i wasnt able to turn it on no matter what. i plugged it into the charger (USB and magnetic cable) but it was like this:
Turns to charging animation, LED red and then goes off after 10 seconds, starting again. i watched this behavior for about 2 hours then and it still doesnt boot.
Fastboot and Flashmode are still working after some tries.
So i flashed the MM Stock rom with the flashtool (i think it was KK before), still the same.
After that i tried the Android N preview 4, same result.
Then i tried the PC Companion, same result.
I would be really thankful for every help!
UPDATE: I charged the battery with a lipo balance charger and it was on 2,6V which was way to low, so i charged it in NiMH Mode until it was accepted by the Lipo mode.
I charged it a little and inserted it into the phone, the phone started and the battery was exactly 50% again (with the new installed marshmallow.)
i plugged in the charger and it flicked to 3% and charging, but 1 second later it turned back to 50% discharging.
i turned the phone off and its charging right now, it shows the correct percentage of 7% and climbing.
UPDATE2:
I charged it to 90% and then removed the battery, cleaned all contacts with ethanol and put it back together, no more 50% here but realistic values (82%)
i think that did the trick, a new battery is on its way. In case it happens again i will just replace it.
i will edit again, how it turns out after the custom rom.
