So guys, not much info on this sleeper of a phone, so here's some intel.
I'm a big Apple guy, but tired of IOS, always looking for something different, which is what Apple used to be.
So I bought the LTE ZL from Expansys.
Used my Nano SIM with a adapter in the ZL, no call to ATT to change my plan. Got full 25 plus downloads on LTE right out of the box. This is a first for an unlocked phone, no other unlocked phones have been ATT LTE full up, this is where the Nexus 4 dropped the ball.
The phone is big but light, feels good in the hand with the textured plastic/rubber back. I think using this phone without a case is the way to go. The Z for example with a all glass back looks nice but your going to run out and put a case on it so why have a nice glass phone.
The UI is very simple, no HTC or Samsung, it's pretty close to stock JB, like on the Nexus. It's almost to simple.
The call quality is, OK, nothing to right home about, but the iPhone 5 has the best call quality, speaker and loud speaker, the ZL works, but it's not super clear or super loud. There are call settings, and I've messed with a few but it's still ok.
The camera seems good, haven't taken too many pic's yet, but an actual camera button is very nice.
Battery life is very good, with any new device I'm always messing with it and while I've only had it for a few days, the battery is good, much better than the Nexus 4 for example.
The Sony in the ear headphones and OK, no volume control on them, my iPhone headset works but the volume controls on it do not work, but I can make calls and skip song's ect.
The stock mail client seems pretty good, I always end up using K9 Mail because the stock stinks, this one setup my Apple mail without me having to manually do anything, that's a first.
The keyboard isn't bad, but there are better one's on the Play Store.
Will this phone better the HTC ONE or Galaxy S4, I doubt it, but so far it's the best Android phone out there, at the moment.

Nice!
Did you mention how nice the power button is? Its the first time that Sony has got it right and maybe used it part of design feature and as far as I have tried it, it works really well.

While I do agree that things coming with phone should work (like iPhone) in this case without use of 3rd party apps but after using android for long time, I think I like to have my phone customized whenever I get a new handset. Swift-Key Keyboard is first thing to install for me and I usually root the phone and put stock email app back as I have no idea what Sony has done to email app that doesn't function right specially with Google Apps accounts.

For many gadgets are only based on power of software and some hardware and few power of both, but if anyone see this as power of 3 components of physical design, software and hardware, it should say that Xperia ZL sits in a comfortable place. There are flaws but also there are lots of good features.

What email client do you use and recommend?
