I got the working sound enhancer.................click below to download it...........
I think 1.20 is only for NoDo or earlier.

It would be advisible to download the most update version through the "hidden" link from HTC as quoted below. (Access the link directly from your WP7 devices)

The newest version available should be 2.2.0.0, which hides into the settings menu. Enjoy!

When I installed the update via the normal means last month, it completely over-wrote my attentive phone that was also in the settings menu. I am not even sure Attentive phone still works in the background.

Thanks for this link anyway, I will use it and see if it fixes my issue.

EDIT: Nope. Doesnt work as it knows that it has already been installed, and no way to uninstall it. I think I need to contact HTC.

It's not a "shame" but current API/platform limitations. The only one way (now) to create an equalizer - it's decoding MP3 tracks "on the fly" in the app and changing (equalizing) waveform in code. This way is very complicated and very resource intensive. What's why no apps - equalizers on the mp.

I agree with you that it is a complicate and very resource intensive option but it still is a shame because of all the limitations on WP which is getting in the way of creating actual useful apps; the market place is flooded with sound board, fart machine and flash light apps. Being a Windows Mobile fan for over 5 years; this is a big time let down, having a stripped down OS that is so locked down and has so many restrictions is like having an iPhone, that's why I never liked the iPhone. Oh well maybe one day Microsoft will wake up and realize why they aren't selling many phones.

How did you even get it to install? I keep trying to deploy the XAP for 2.2.0 (patched and unpatched) and it always gives me the 0x81030120 error.
Can you share the XAP's for 2.2.0?

Or anyone around have the XAP from a new versions?

My "Live" account got terminated some days ago, and I can't use reinstaller to try to get the app in the Marketplace - and on a basic search it won't show it.

So I need the xap's so I can update the basic 1.2 version to the new Sound Optimization app.

my HD7 was branded T-Mobile, now it's fully unlocked but I don't find the app on the marketplace - my account is set to US. HTC apps doesn't have any of Attentive phone or Sound Optimization --- using Intrinsinc that doesn't come with this apps pre-installed :(

Just curious but did the original Zune Players have this functionality? I have an Arrive and have the Sound Enhancer and rarely use it since I don't usually listen to it with phones. I do occasionally plug it into a pair of powered speakers that I still have from the way back Walkman days to listen to it in my garage.

I just was wondering if, they had it with the original Zune Player, why would they have taken it out when incorporating it into the smartphone. I've never even touched a Zune so don't know anything about them is the reason I ask this.

Thanks

Zunes didn't have one, if I remember well, weird heh? They also lacked any support for lossless formats

I don't see how having mobile surround sound with deep rich bass and clear, crisp mids and highs could be lame but whatever.
Yeah lol. Also, apart from Htc phones the other WP7 devices have a quite muddy output, so that wouldn't probably help much anyway. Get dedicated devices for music people, quality is really cheap nowadays (Sansa Clip + FTW).

While I think it would be nice to have an equalizer for windows phone just to appease the masses I have never honestly seen a need for an equalizer on what is basically a Zune/Ipod/Mp3 player. When you are jamming out to music are you really using your phone/portable whatever? Most people I know have dedicated sound setups, car setups, pc setups for rocking out. They use their phone's player for things like audiobooks, the occasional "mix cd" while working out, and stuff like that.

I personally don't really see a need for an equalizer for MOST digital music anyway but I know other people's mileage varies. I think it really boils down to can this even be done with the way the software is currently setup? I think WP just needs time. iOS was terrible in its infancy (and could be argued still terrible but that's a whole other topic.) Android likewise was just plain bad up until about a year(ish) ago. For only being on their second update to date I would say WP is on par with its older siblings.

Change your defective handset with "quite muddy output". My handsets (Lumia 900, Focus and even old Sammy Tailor) have a perfect sound ;)
Perfect compared to what? A chainsaw maybe?

Also, I higly doubt there's anything wrong with my brand new Koss i150.

For what's it worth I can't even stand the sound of my dads iPod after hearing the sound of my HD7.

Don't think so, still quite flat compared to my HD7 with SRS enabled.
