Dunno if the last reply counts as spam but certainly not helping me or my eyes

Spam in the spam thread... they know we're killing them, with this SKTF, Spam Killing Task Force.

We realize at times it seems like there is so much spam, but with the killers we have here and those Members out in the forums reporting we've got it covered. Thank you!

OK, then a better method should be found.
As a developer I see this as a security leak.
Now think as an hacker, and find how it could be fixed almost for ever and 99 %. And while I'm writing this, I've already an idea.

    Edit:
If I understand correctly, the current spam-filter works like this:

In the current filter there is a string like this: "airline reservation" and if detects exactly the same string it'll be blocked and the thread will not come online.
But if the user do this: "airline $$ reservation" then it'll not detect and the thread comes online.

    Fix:
Keep the filter list like it is, but block new threads created from new user (lets say up to 6 months) and don't let the thread coming online if it'll find just one word in title or thread description that will match with one word from the filter.. That means a Mod will need to check this and decide if it was really a spam or not. If spam, delete the user, otherwise let the thread come online.

If you XDA developers and admins will manage to do this, then they will loose motivation very quickly, since they need to do much work, spend the time and then the spam thread will not come online at all.
You underestimate how much spam we get.
The ones which escape the filters are around 10-15%.

The devs of the bots which target the forums have plenty of motivation.
They relentlessly update their bots everyday.

My standard tpv pm sent to many, many people:
    Hi there,

Several of your 'thanks' posts have been deleted as it is obvious that you are trying to get your post count up to ten to post in the dev forums ;)

Instead of spamming the forums with 'thanks' posts [which is against XDA rules] you would be better off hitting the thanks button. To get to ten posts, head over to the general Q&A section of your device or the main Q&A forum and answer a couple of peoples questions.

    This has 3 benefits - win:win situation :

    1. You get to help another member and get the 'feel good factor' by helping someone out.
    2. Your post count will very quickly increase - there are many people out there looking for help and you wont get into trouble by spamming.
    3. You may actually learn something new today by helping someone with a problem that you may not of known about yourself - remember Google is your friend (search).

So, go on, feel good today and help someone you dont know ;)

    Cheers.

    Tim.
