Spanish Dictionary for Nook Glowlight (Diccionario en Español para Nook Glowlight)

Hi,
I make this database dictionary which contains 93076 entries and 505277 inflected words.
The idea was to keep the internal Reader but with a custom dictionary because the owner of the device don't have a address on US. I was reading the post 'Alternatives dictionaries', maked every step but I don't liked the results, mostly because involved the resign of apps and duplicate of databases.
Feel free to use the .db file for the use you want, the other files (MoreLocale2.apk and Calibri fonts set are easy to find).
The database is based on 23th edition from RAE, actually it is a MOBI file from a Kindle's source converted to HTML and then parsed to be a decompiled stardict file. All this only for entries, for the inflected words I parsed the dicc.src file from the project Freeling on GitHub, specifically (github.com/iknow/FreeLing/blob/master/data/es/dicc.src). And added too the es-ar locale dicc.src (compiled by my own and excluding the repeated inflected-term).
I worked on my sister's device, an BNRV500 model with firmware 1.3.1
If anyone wants some of the files or the procedure to elaborate the same (maybe for another language) only ask about it.

What do you need:

• Rooted Nook, with su
• ADB working on your system
• diccionario.7z, at the end of post (compressed with 7zip)

Procedure

1. Uncompress diccionario.7z where evere you want, REMEMBER where.
2. Connect your Nook
3. Eject Nook from USB on Windows, but DON'T DISCONNECT the cable
4. Open a 'cmd' console on the directory where you uncompress the file diccionario.7z (SHIFT+Right Click on Windows Explorer, "Open console on this directory" option).
   

   adb shell mount -o rw,remount none /system
   adb shell mkdir /data/media/diccionario
   adb push ox_en_GB.db /data/media/diccionario
   adb install MoreLocale2.apk
   cd calibri
   adb push . /system/fonts

5. Launch Development Settings for the Nook
   

   adb shell am start -n com.android.settings/.DevelopmentSettings

6. ON THE NOOK
   • Select Android Launcher
   • Select the Apps Icon
   • Select the icon app: More Locale
   • Select Spanish or Español (I don't remember now)
7. Go back to the Windows console (cmd)
   

   adb shell
   cd /system/media/reference

   ONLY IF YOU HAVE ALREADY ox_en_GB.db in /system/media/reference (check with 'ls')
   

   mv ox_en_GB.db ox_en_GB.bkp

8. Make a symbolic link to the file:
   

   ln -s /data/media/diccionario/ox_en_GB.db ox_en_GB.db

9. Backup the CharisSIL font
   

   cd /system/fonts
   mv CharisSIL-Bold.ttf CharisSIL-Bold.bkp
   mv CharisSIL-BoldItalic.ttf CharisSIL-BoldItalic.bkp
   mv CharisSIL-Italic.ttf CharisSIL-Italic.bkp
   mv CharisSIL.ttf CharisSIL.bkp

10. Replace the CharisSil font with Calibri (for arabic and greek origin of words)
    

    mv calibrib.ttf CharisSIL-Bold.ttf
    mv calibriz.ttf CharisSIL-BoldItalic.ttf
    mv calibrii.ttf CharisSIL-Italic.ttf
    mv calibri.ttf CharisSIL.ttf

11. Fix permissions & exit from Nook's shell
    

    chmod 0644 *
    exit

12. Reboot the Nook
    

    adb reboot

From here you'll have the Nook system on Spanish (not all is translated internally) and your dictionary will be ox_en_GB.db (Spanish)
If you wanna go back to a original state only execute the 5, 6 steps and choose en-US for Locale, this action will return the Reader internal app to take like source the basewords.db and the inflectedwords.db on /system/media/reference

No tengo una NST para confirmarte, no debería haber problemas.
Fijate si en la carpeta /system/media/reference
Si ves que existe un archivo ox_en_GB.db, hacé una copia del mismo ya sea en tu PC o en el mismo NST y probá con con la .db que puse.

No hay un archivo que se llame así, solo hay cuatro archivos que se llaman: basewords.db, bgwords.db, fwp.db, inflectedwords.db

Hola, mucho tiempo después, confirmo que funciona bien para el Nook ST (1.2.1), seguí los pasos saltando el 7 y ahora tengo el diccionario en español, muchas gracias.

-Olvídalo, ya investigué respecto a ello y lo instalé en mi pc. Hice todo, saltándome lo segundo del paso siete como el otro usuario con NST y funcionó. Te agradezco mucho. Lo único malo es que siendo root se descarga un poquito más rápido. Pero vale la pena.

Perdón tengo un Nook glowlight 3 pero no tengo mucha idea si puede funcionar, pero al estar la redacción en ingles me cuesta mucho poder hacerlo, hay alguna forma de que me lo expliquen mejor? pude abrir cdm en la carpeta donde tengo descomprimido los archivos, pero los comandos de cdm no los supe ejecutar, tampoco poder hacer mucho.

Me parece que al glowlight 3 puedes ponerle aplicaciones de android sin ser root, lo que significa que puedes utilizar alguna otra app para leer los libros y que tengan diccionario en español, me parece que Aldiko es una, seguramente moon reader también tenga, de hecho puedes probar a instalar la app misma de Nook, pues esa te deja bajar un diccionario en español, puedes encontrar los apk en páginas como uptodown
Por otra parte, si aún así quieres intentar el tutorial de aquí, primero debes de rootear tu glowlight 3 para que puedas tener acceso a las carpetas del sistema

Hola, leí en este hilo un comentario del año 2017 en donde, más o menos traducido dice:
Al hacer tap en el icono de Nook que esta en "Settings" (Ajustes)->"About" (Acerca de) algunas veces (en general suelen ser 7 veces seguidas), aparecerá un menu en que el que se activaran las opciones de desarrollador.
(Es decir que verás una opción que dirá: "Developer options" si el sistema está en inglés), dentro encontrarás otra opción que debe decir: "Enable USB debugging".
Ok, hasta ahí es el primer paso, he leído que si has actualizado el software de tu Noook Glowlight 3, es probable que picarle 7 veces a "About", NO te dejará poner las opciones de desarrollador, puedes revisar un poco en el hilo que enlacé arriba.
Por otra parte, si lográs activar las opciones de desarrollador, necesitas ADB en tu PC, puedes buscar en google "ADB Minimal" para no tener que bajar archivos muy pesados, ya con ello deberás de abrir una terminal (CMD), conectar tu dispositivo y escribir:

adb devices

Y sí todo sale bien, tanto en la PC como en el Nook te deberá pedir una autorización. En el post mencionan que tuvieron que intentar más de tres veces para que le diera autorización. Si lográs llegar a este punto, ya solo queda instalar aplicaciones con el comando:

adb install "nombredelarchivo.apk"

(sin comillas)
Obviamente no puedes instalar aplicaciones muy demandantes, pues el dispotivo no está hecho para eso.
Esta sería una forma muy general de como se lograría instalar aplicaciones, la otra es rooteando el dispositivo, pero puedes intentar esto primero.
Desconozco para qué versión de software funciona este método, pero lo revisaré un poco cuando pueda por si hay problemas.

Edit: Al parecer alguien ya hizo un post por este foro sobre lo que te comenté arriba, lo puedes ver aquí, te dice como instalar adb, activar las opciones de desarrollador y como poner un launcher para que puedar acceder facilmente a las apps que le pongas después.
