+2 Agreed. I tried to get them to work for an hour until i ended up with no animations at all lol.
the down animation works fine but the bootup doesnt seem to work
I've had no issues now that we have R/W access. I couldnt get these to work at all before, now boot and down is working fine. You flash the boot from recovery just like a rom... and rename the down to hTC_downanimation and push to phone.

Thanks @seyidaga

It seems like the splashes don't do anything. Tried flashing in TWRP and CWM. I'm still stuck with the original splash and the warning text. Does anyone know the fastboot command to flash the splash?
EDIT: Dev edition(Pre unlocked) with s-off.
EDIT2: Had to use the RUU method to flash.
I've repacked the splashes here along with an extra one I made to test. Just follow the directions here to flash.

I'm getting an error message when I try flashing a splash.zip using a .nb0 file instead of a .img one. Could I be doing something wrong?

It would help if you told us what the error was.
If its no device found or something like that after rebooting to fastboot, install HTC Sync Manager, then remove just Sync Manager. The install includes ADB and fastboot drivers as "HTC Driver Manager"

Which model of the M8 do you have? You'll need to add its model ID in the android-info.txt file, or wait for me to find and add all of them and update the ZIPs.
