Spotify controls not showing in lock screen

Hey guys.

I'm on the pure nexus rom, and I'm not sure if this is a normal thing, but the spotify controls (forward, play, backtrack) does not appear to show up on the lock screen.

Is anyone experiencing the same?

I believe it's an issue with Spotify, not the phone or the phones software. I've encountered this bug randomly every now and then since my Nexus 6p. Haven't been able to figure out what triggers is because it doesn't bother me all that much.
