This is only slightly better than the employee referral deal in the fact you are a little cheaper on service. The issue comes when you want a new device because it is full price AFAICT. So you really have to decide if it's worth it. You are not in a contract on the framily plan. I was looking at doing this, but it is so little of savings compared to what I pay now and without seeing what the taxes and fees would be it is a hard choice. If you are part of a family plan with a contract, you can only start a framily, not join...according to their terms.
