Considering you are in the forum for the s8+ I think you are lost. And I got it by OTA not a download. But my brother got it so it should be posted here soon.

@sean8102

FYI - I followed these steps last night with my Unlocked G955U1 S8+

It worked 100%

I had been running a stitched together beta AllCarriers One UI ROM from over in the Verizon section over here for the last few months.

My goal yesterday was to wipe data and have a true / authentic ATT user experience with Pie so as to ensure my WiFi calling and VoLTE services continued, and got regular OTA updates and have everything working 100%. And so far, it looks to be the case. I'm still unlocked and can flash any other recent ROM I see fit it looks like. For now, I'm content having 100% working official One Pie ATT experience and working WiFi calling and VoLTE on my U1, even if the phone does not identify itself as a U1 right now :)

Note: The only thing I did different was i purposely flashed the HOME CSC, and did a Wipe System and Wipe Cache (x2) to ensure I was starting 100% stock fresh, and that worked just fine.

Awesome, glad to hear it worked! Last time I flashed my AT&T S8+ over to a U1 ROM I had a heck of a time getting back to a official AT&T ROM setup. Mainly due to finding AT&T USERDATA files that went with bootloader 5, for some reason the AT&T userdata files seem the hardest of the US carriers to find online. It was a pain having no Wi-fi calling esp since coverage at my house is not that great, and its nice having all the other features as well. Wish AT&T were not jerks though and let Wi-Fi calling work on unlocked phones, its the main reason I don't get one :(

@sean8102 Hey bro I have an unlocked S8 (SM-G950U1). Can I flash the T-Mobile firmware meant for SM-G950U (carrier variant)? Really getting desperate lol... Also, if I flash T-Mobile firmware, will I get access to 4x4 MIMO and will my future OTA updates come from T-Mobile as opposed to Samsung?

Just get your hands on an imei from a supported phone that you know will never by activated to be used on att again. I have an iPhone and a note 5 imei from old broken phones I use. Buy your unlocked phone then call up attached and tell them the phone and imei is the att branded one. That's all I've had to do, that and have the right room off course.

Fair warning. This is fraud is not allowed to be talked about on the forums.

Had no idea, I've seen this same thing mentioned on XDA literally dozens of times. And even some if the ATT reps totally know what's up when you call them - I've told them point blank what I am trying to achieve and they still go through with the request. I looked up the FDA site and it was a bit vague on the specifics on giving your own Imei from a different phone to a rep instead of the one you plan in using. The Fda site seemed more concerned about cloning phones and identity theft.

But rules are rules if it's gotta come down let me know and I'll revise/delete my post .

Yeah that's due to the cell phone cloning act. The meat of it is that the only people that are allowed to change or alter imei linked to a device is the oem.

Not sure why they would tell you that when they know their system auto scans and updates the imei information periodically.

The reason it was vague is because of the tech at the time. Very few people even knew what an imei was. Let alone how to change it.

The fact that you have seen it on here is not a surprise. Few are still around thzt are aware of the older laws and rulings. Like did you know it's federally illegal in many countries to even be in possession of software that can edit the imei?

Ya, FDA is a tough bunch to figure out. last company i worked for was under fda mandate. Boy did we spend many hours debating their regulations.

I did not know about the IMEI software manipulation being illegal in other counties - not surprising though. Not related at all, but did you know it's illegal to wear a bullet proof vest while committing a crime in new jersey?

Yeah some of the laws are crazy. How about the fact that suicide is illegal. Yeah my home state makes it that pickles can't be sold unless they bounce lol

im not sure if i can share links from other places here. im sorry if im not allowed

This seems to have worked, I used the steps on the first page using SamFirm and instead of using SPR, I used TMB, then used the HOME_CSC file. Nothing got wiped and I just got android pie now
