it is a sad day when the odexed blue thread gets closed. I will be on the GS3 until April at least. I hopped on M.O.A.R. v6. Its a fast, stable ROM and whats great, you can theme things to look slightly Odexed Blue!

I will keep my flash-ables up in my folder!

Had to smile at the title of this thread ;)

I was very sad to see Steve move on, but I'm happy for him and his Note3. If the spouse decides to upgrade from the Note2 we will definitely check out whatever SS is doing.

I decided to take the plunge - yesterday I flashed Wicked Sensations, with a bit of an experiment. I did the nandroid, the wipes, the install all on Clockwork recovery. Also downloaded the MD4 modem. I was warned against the Advanced Restore for all data, but I did it and everything seems to be working fine so far. I like the Kuban Updater but I think it will work better for me once I (eventually) change to the TWRP recovery.

I'll report back on battery life, etc.

I miss Odexed Blue but for now Wicked Sensations is very nice.

If ur too worried about switching to twrp all at once I would recommend checking out @CNexus recovery switcher... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274796. It uses the aroma installer to install twrp ,cwm ,and cwm touch. That way you can test out twrp and if u don't like it it's not hard to get right back to what u like.

I was a very dedicated Odexed Blue user too. Actually still have it as my daily, but now all of the google updates are happening and my apps are ugly again.

I was curious about doing an advanced restore. Did you do it for data only? Even the odexed apps work? This makes me much more likely to make the switch. At least until I upgrade my phone in March. However, from what I've been reading I'm not so sure I'm going to jump to the Note 3. When the biggest complaint on the newest phone is call quality I really question what the manufacturers are focusing on.

Yes, I did the Advanced Restore - Data Only...and yes, everything has been working fine. I was prepared to revert completely via nandroid if I had encountered any issues - but there were no issues whatsoever. Once I felt comfortable, I replaced my recovery and did a nandroid of the new set up.

Spouse has a Note2. Spouse isn't really a power user and hasn't shown any interest in the Note3 so we are waiting. I don't know anyone local with a Note3, so I haven't checked out the call quality.

3 out of our 5 family lines are now off contract - mine and the other remaining contract line will go off in the spring so we are waiting to figure out our next move. For now I'm perfectly fine with my S3 w/extended OEM battery and Wicked Sensations.

In general Sprint has been very good to us - we have LTE nearly everywhere we go and the only dead spot in our county seems to reside in spouse's office, so Sprint gave us a free Airave. But paying $250/month for the five lines plus Airave is getting to be a drag. I'm the only data hog in the family - typical use over 5 to 6 GB/month as no WiFi at work and I use Google Maps turn by turn for travel. So we are weighing options.

Well...after looking at the new T-Mobile plans and testing their coverage with a prepaid SIM for a couple of days, we have decided to move to T-Mobile. We will be saving $100/month with 2 unlimited lines & 2 with 2.5GB. I moved Mom to Ting so she could keep her old flip phone. Her service before tax will be $9/month.Found nice phones on Swappa - need to sell my Sprint phones. We will break even on switching costs including $140 in EFTs few months...after that it's all savings for us.

whats everyone using now? gettin tired of clearing the update request notification, are there any other good dark odexed roms for us?

You can edit the build.prop file to get the ota notifications to stop. I thought that I was locked to odex roms as well, but I've made the switch over to Wicked Sensations (not the 4.3 version yet, but Dazed does have one, there are 2 separate threads for MD4 and MK3) and its a similar experience to Odexed Blue.

yeah i've looked at a couple, one was a wicked that didn't look too shabby but can't remember if it was going to be 4.3 soon so was holding off also wasn't sure the difference between his two roms, oh and the peoples rom didn't seem bad either

i forgot to turn on root explorer and r/w mount in es, i changed the 4.1.2 to 4.3 and saved but i'm still getting the notification after rebooting

about shows '4.3'
Go back a page or 2 and there are full instructions. You dont change the version to 4.3 you have to change the build.
