Thank You !
I tried many things (new TWRP 3.2.x), PixelExperience and LineageOS 16 (with the last patch of MI4C).

Nothing works for me.
TWRP 3.2.x don't start (go back to the 3.1.1 version)
PixelExperience don't start
LOS16 starts with the patch "V9.5.1.0.NXKCNFA" but with a lot of "xxx process stopped"
Moreover, after the patch "V9.5.1.0.NXKCNFA" installation my MI4C had the bootloader locked ! I have to redo this procedure to unlock my bootloader Guide-unlocking-mi4c-bl-verification

So, I came back to version LOS 15.

Thanks a lot! One question regarding installing LineageOS 16 with the patch though - did you use a different TWRP than 3.1.1-1 or did you disable the verification checks for the ROM or something?
Even with the patch I'm getting an error code 7 during installation of the ROMs you linked to.

Thank you, good sir! I'm glad you're caching those files locally. ;)
Managed to flash LineageOS 16 now and it's working flawlessly.

One more question for you, if you don't mind: Did you manage to install OpenGApps on LineageOS 16? For me even the pico version reports being too large... I guess I could resize the system partition but that's kinda tricky as far as I know and I've never done it before.

Granted - the Mi 4c is not a critical phone for me, just something I found lying around at home and wanted to update but still. :)

Update: Never mind, solved it. Apparently you have to use Mind the GApps now instead.

Yes, I've installed once I flashed it the first time (so, after a full wipe, of the /system as well). It was a full package heavily changed with many, many, many components removed to fit in the tiny partition. However, if you have a quick way to resize the partition let me know :) It would be probably ideal to do it for me as well rather that have this super minimal gapps ehehhe

It worked with Mind the GApps. The newest version is sadly also too big but this one worked for me:
