I did a factory reset and things improved but then when I woke up the battery had gone from 70% to 7 in 7 hours.

I checked the apps and it said chrome. I forgot to shut it off before sleeping and I guess it went nuts. Processor use was at 80-90%.

I guess with nougat you HAVE to shut the apps off each and every time.

Ok, last night I also switched off wifi/data and just lost 7% in 7 hours.

If I put this on airplane mode I think I'd just lose half that. Maybe less.

But, that confirms it.

If you don't want any surprises, turn off apps and wifi/gps/data when you don't need it.

Interesting...forgot to turn off wifi/data and I still just lost 7% overnight.

So I guess it's really unclosed apps that cause problems.

I have seen, that one of the biggest battery sucker apk's is the "google" app. 16% over all.
Also the wifi functionality is used by system all the time!!! Don’t know why because i have switched wifi and background scanning to off.
Can’t get battery consumption lower than 0.6%/h!

Edit:

Have installed two interesting apps now to try them!

1.) hybernator (task killer)
2.) Naptime (immediately doze mode)

First results seems to be very interesting!

Hi guys,
my brother has LG G5 H850. After the Nougat update he started to have problems with the bluetooth connection. Everytime it drops he has to reboot the device otherwise BT doesn't work anymore.
In the end he choose to downgrade and the BT problem is gone but the battery life is a little terrible.
Phone Idle and Android system is 11-12%.
He uses BT and GPS very frequently but even if he turns them off the battery drain is crazy...
Any suggestion?

Based on personal experience, battery drain on this phone is more often than not is apps rather the actual hw. I tried testing this a couple of times to be sure. After a clean factory reset, a single charge can last me almost 2 days. Granted I don't use it a lot, that time can drop down to just a lil bit over half a day once apps get loaded on with same usage style.

Try it out. Factory reset and leave it stock for a while see if the drain rate changes. Load apps one by one or a couple at a time and see which affects battery life. You should be able to narrow it down if it is an app.
Alternatively, try swapping out the batt for a new one. Might be dying.

With the stock Oreo, standby drain on this (an H850) is outstanding. It drops maybe 5-10% a day if I don't touch it, with just 4G on. With Android 7 it was much worse.
