Standby drain

Ok I've been losing 10% overnight (8ish hours) on wifi which is crap.

I've narrowed it down to the following
* Location Settings
* NFC
* Now Playing
* Ambient display and subsequent settings

With all these off (location on device only) the battery is only dropping 4% over the same period which while is still not as good as I've had in the past (2%) i'll probably settle with.

Going to test each one on individually over the next few nights to find the culprit..
Been playing with this now for over a week. The always on display settings including "lift phone" option double my standby drain

I can have the top three of the above list on and it's half a percent per hour overnight on WiFi, with them on its more than 1 percent per hour.

I have some of the Google account sync settings off that I don't need plus WiFi and Bluetooth scanning.

I get a terrible signal at work though so my battery drops quicker but I can still make it home at the end of the day with > 30 %

I'm relatively happy now

I'm having an issue with mine since the Feb update.

After my successful testing above my phone no de-charges from 100% to 0 (or close to) overnight.

Whats weird is it doesn't do it in the day.

Jesus this is frustrating

It quickly lost 2% after unplugging for about 15 minutes.
1% by Play services
Remember how that works, though. Play services used 1% of the 2% used, not 1% of the total battery power. So that's 2/100% of the battery power for Play Services.

But, as the OP asked, yes, the phone crunches numbers all night when you sleep, even if it's just running in a tight loop
Code:
label: goto label
waiting for something to happen. The CPU speed may drop down to 400MHz (System Panel Light shows the CPU speed, and if you just let it sit there for a minute you'll see how slow it gets) (and if you've installed a controllable kernel you can drop it lower than that) (and speed costs battery), but it doesn't stop completely when you're not doing anything.

I have the screen dark all night (Proximity Service with the phone face down) and don't generally drop more than 1%-2% with battery saver off. With it on, I seldom drop 1%.

Possibly my first post - I just swapped my Xperia XZ Premium with the Pixel 2 of my wife because she was complaining that the battery does not last more than 6 hours - and she has 1 Gmail Account and a few apps that she runs.

However, since I completely factory reset the phone and loaded all my stuff and my email accounts - I use 6 of them - 3 on Google and 3 on O365, and a host of other apps - I have not seen the kind of battery drain that she has been complaining off.

I have WiFi and Bluetooth always on, have turned off ambient screen and also on-screen notifications. Just charged the battery to 100% and will report back tomorrow morning on the drain.
