Great News

I added the translations above photos, on this comment -> http://forum.frandroid.com/topic/131508-fix-antenne-gps-b92m/#entry2134536

Excuse I for my English

Dany

Hi there,

This is my implementation :)

Upon removing the small rectangle of black protective ink (Very carefully) and then removing one millimetre of copper (opening the original antenna circuitry) I used a small "black" tape to isolate the rest of the original antenna (leaving a small gap to connect the new antenna).

I download a milimetric PDF page (http://eric.bouchare.pagesperso-orange.fr/phys/pdf/mmpaper.pdfhttp:// taken from this site http://eric.bouchare.pagesperso-orange.fr/index_en.html
Printed one sheet, and made the shape on paper.
Cutted the paper with the drawing and stick it using transparent paper on a Cooper self adhesive tape (easy to find on ebay - I used it on a china Tablet with low WIFI coverage).
Then cutted using a sharp razor and upon removing the protective layer (exposing the glue) I stick it on the phone area.

That's it ;)

Now I can get a fix indoors (on a floor bellow surface "work" area with a very small window at 1m) with 3/4 sat's with a accuracy of 30/40m. Before no sat and no fix :)
Later on (going home) I will test the open road lol

MANY THANKS TO:

danycmoi and orefie...

Regards,

Thank you for your great pictures. I have some questions.

What purpose does the black tape serve? Are you removing black ink below the tape?
Are you only exposing a small square to which you then attach the new copper antenna?
Do you make any modifications to the back cover of the phone?

Hi tinybeetle,

Thank you for your great pictures. I have some questions.

No problem, they were posted to help others ;)

What purpose does the black tape serve? Are you removing black ink below the tape?

Well, the black tape servers only as an extra protective layer (because the cooper tape has some hard edges due to a not so perfect cut that could scratch the "black ink protective layer beneath") that's why :D! But you are right I could had make it smaller (no need to cover the whole antenna) only the area around the new cooper antenna, unfortunately I was in hurry trying to see the results lol...

Are you only exposing a small square to which you then attach the new copper antenna?

Yes, only exposing a small area plus an extra space where a small cut will be done to disconnect the original antenna (that extra area will also be protected by the same black tape "one piece only" kind off).

Do you make any modifications to the back cover of the phone?

Not yet, but I do intent to do some tests with aluminium (kitchen) to see how it goes, for better or for worse.

I will post here more results soon...

Here you can find a picture of an indoor sample test image (done on a basement with only a small window at 1m) not bad (before the modification no signal of SAT whatsoever), in fact these values (accuracy) were only achieved on an open sky.

Regards,

partition

Hello, I have a question :

My device with mobileuncle show 6 partition

emmc P1 = 00000020 00000002 "ebr1"
emmc P2 = 0000ac40 00002800 "cec_ro"
emmc P3 = 00010740 00100000 "android"
emmc P4 = 00110f40 00100000 "cache"
emmc P5 = 00211740 00100000 "usrdata"
emmc P6 = 00311f40 0041b8c0 "fat"

And I have

503 Mb Internal Memory
31,24 Gb Sd (micro sd 32Gb)
2,5 Gb Phone Memory

Is possible to partition to have more space in Internal memory than Phone memory ?
Like this :

1024 Mb Internal Memory
31,24 Gb Sd (micro sd)
1,5 Gb Phone Memory

If I install some app the internal memory is not enough and do not need to have big sd if the internal memory is too little !!!
I can move the app to the sd by App2sd but is not a good solution.
The best solution could be repartition the phone to increase the Internal memory at least up to 1Gb !
if someone is able to modify that mbr1 would be great!

Thank you for all !

Just look here how I patched EBR1:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35925202&postcount=369

When you change original partition size of first entry from 00 00 10 00 into 00 00 20 00 you will have internal memory of 1GB
Of course you have to decrease the size of the secont entry with the same number (from DF E0 CE FF into DF E0 BE FF) and also the start address in the second entry should be increased with the amount you made the first entry larger, so for 1GB internal memory it should be changed from 20 1F 31 00 to 20 1F 41 00

First it all, thank you to all of the contributors to this thread, helping the rest of us to improve this phone.

I have a question:

I've rooted it with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Then, I installed the recovery that is inside "2.5gb-data-perm-root.zip" using "mobileuncletools"

I works so far,..

Now I want to repartition..

Is it enough to flash ONLY EBR1.img file (either the one inside "2.5gb-data-perm-root.zip" or a new one patched with the values yo propose for 1G), instead of flashing ALL of the files inside "2.5gb-data-perm-root.zip" ?

I would prefer to fllash as few files as possible to reduce the risk of bricking it.

Thank you,

Yes, only EBR1 can be flashed, takes just a few seconds, after that you should reboot in recovery mode and format data.

o.k.
I see the information, but I don't understand hex number what to refer.
I did the math and see that it is 4096 I do not know what they are.
I installed ebr1hacked.img, I saw that the partition of the internal memory was very low so I re-flashing the ebr.img getting the results posted first.
I have no idea how to create the file ebr.img with these new values that you posted to get the internal memory of 1 GB as I wrote.
When you apply this new amendment partitions become like the ones I posted above?
There is a risk of brick the phone?
If something goes wrong it is sufficient to re-flash the original ebr1 to solve?
I can ask those who are familiar with these hacks to post the file ebr.img modified to get 1 Gb of internal memory and 1,5 Gb of memory telephone ?
I believe it can be useful for everyone because there are very few 503 Mb.
It 'possible that after the terminal having trouble with speed ?
I read in an italian forum that is being testing the Jelly of this device, But there are problems with high consumption of battery. It 'a real news?

The value post previusly are not correct, because if I want to increase the internal memory to 1 Gb I must necessarily decrease the phone memory.
If the amount is to 512 more, the phone memory will be reduced by this value (512).
The correct refer is the following :

Actual

503 Mb Internal Memory
31,24 Gb Sd (micro sd 32Gb)
2,5 Gb Phone Memory

After the hack
Like this :

1024 Mb Internal Memory (+ 512 )
31,24 Gb Sd (micro sd)
2 Gb Phone Memory ( -512 )

Thanks again for the support for the benefit of all.

Hi there,

Thanks for the explanation :)

Although I have a doubt, besides the possibility to manually define the size of each partition (I still don't know how to make those calc's) is it possible to move all to the "Internal Android partition Memory"?
I mean disable the "Internal Phone memory" all together?
I'm asking this because "if" we do add an SDCard (everyone would do it for sure, I think! because 4GB are very cheap) there is no need for it.
And no more problems with two SDCard (android) devices being found and sometimes causing problems...

What do you think?

May be good 2 gb for data applications 500mb for user data... 80mb it's few... if veisen can change for this or explain how we can make this or similar would be great for me.
    Regards

That is exactly what I have done, editing (with a hex editor) and flashing file EBR1 is necessary to do this.
The EBR file contains extended boot record (Google to find layout of this record)

    It contains partition tables:

    Code:
partition table first entry original EBR1	2.5GB 2.0 GB
    Boot indicator (80h for active; otherwise, 00h) 00 00 00
    CHS cylinder-head-sector address: partition start	00 00 00	00 00 00	00 00 00
    Partition type code 83 83 83
    CHS cylinder-head-sector address: partition end 00 00 00	00 00 00	00 00 00
    LBA logical block address: partition start 20 17 21 00	20 17 21 00	20 17 21 00
    Partition size (in sectors) 00 00 10 00	00 00 50 00	00 00 40 00

    Code:
    partition table second entry
    Boot indicator (80h for active; otherwise, 00h) 00 00 00
    CHS cylinder-head-sector address: partition start	00 00 00	00 00 00	00 00 00
    Partition type code 83 83 83
    CHS cylinder-head-sector address: partition end 00 00 00	00 00 00	00 00 00
    LBA logical block address: partition start 20 1F 31 00	20 1F 71 00	20 1F 61 00
Partition size (in sectors) DF E0 CE FF	DF E0 8E FF	DF E0 9E FF

Of course you do this on your own risk, but it worked for me.

Opened a new thread containing this guide which can be found here.

A step by step detailed tutorial:

    - Download the following and extract all the files:

    - Install the MT6577 USB VCOM drivers drivers

    - Inside the 2.5gb-data-perm-root folder make sure the files have the following names (CASE SENSITIVE!):
    • recovery.img
    • EBR1.img
    • boot.img
    • logo.img
    • MBR.img
    • preloader.img

    Screenshot:
    qLhU0.png

    - Turn off your phone and unplugg the USB cable
    - Start SP Flash Tool
    - Under options in the menubar check "USB mode"
    - Under File in the menubar click on "Open scatter-loading file" and select MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt from the CWM-ROOT-B92M folder
    - Double click the following rows inside SP Flash Tool:
    • PRELOADER and select preloader.img (from 2.5gb-data-perm-root folder)
    • MBR and select MBR.img (from 2.5gb-data-perm-root folder)
    • EBR1 and select EBR1.img (from 2.5gb-data-perm-root folder)
    • BOOTIMG and selet boot.img (from 2.5gb-data-perm-root folder)
    • RECOVERY and select recovery.img (from 2.5gb-data-perm-root folder)
    • LOGO and select logo.img (from 2.5gb-data-perm-root folder)

You should have the following then:
    z3nuV.png

    - Click on "Download" inside SP Flash Tool
    - Take out the battery of the phone
    - Put the battery in
    - Connect USB cable with your computer
    - The bar at the bottom of SP Flash tool should go to 100% a few time and present you with a green circle when done
    - Done flashing, hit volume up + power to start up CWM and make a backup

I hope this detailed guide helps everyone out ;)

when u boot up in recovery can u access your external sd card:confused: or phone storage only should i not be able to see both  and is it on your EXTERNAL SD u should keep your back ups and zip files for flashing on and if so how do i access them in recovery:confused:

I had the same problem with the recovery img which was from the previous ROM, so I created a new recovery.img by modifying the original recovery.img from the JB version, and that one is working correct and showing the zip files on the external SD card.
