Steering wheel control help

I have a 2015 Subaru Impreza that I'm trying to put an Xtrons TE103AP head unit in and I can't get the steering wheel controls to work. I bought an Axxess ASWC-1 harness that I'm thinking I probably don't need. I've got the latest Malaysk firmware -MTCE px5- on the head unit. I think I read something about changing the CAN bus settings. If anyone can give me some help I would appreciate it because I'm thoroughly frustrated.
