What is the likely hood of the bootloader being unlocked within the next few weeks? i just purchased the atrix but i dont like having motoblur running on it.. i'd rather have a straight port of android.. i also ordered the G2X to see how that runs compared to the atrix..

There really isn't a straight answer for this. It will be unlocked when and if it's unlocked, no sooner.

Okay so I am interested in rooting so I'm not restricted by some of Motorola's weirdness...but I am running 1.5.7 since I just accepted the update a few weeks ago before knowing it would prevent rooting. I had an iPhone before, so I'm VERY new to all of this...but I was wondering, wouldn't doing a system restore on my phone give me the original SBF? Or would I restore it and still be running the latest update? The SBF flash has a lot of disclaimers and it makes me a little uneasy...

Since you are running stock 1.2.6 there is no need to flash it again you will be able to run gladroot then update to 1.5.7. Make sure to follow instructions so to retain root :)

A system restore will unfortunately not bring you back to 1.2.6 you will have to flash back to it in order to get/retain root. Don't be scared of flashing just follow the instructions and you will do just fine. If you have any hesitations feel free to PM me I'd be happy to walk you through. I've flashed back to 1.2.6 at least 10 times with no hiccups :)

Alright, well thanks! I'll keep that offer in mind for sure! Yeah, and I reading at the instructions a little more closely I noticed that most of the problems were happening to people who have unlocked SIM cards or modded their phones otherwise, which I have done none of up to this point.

International Atrix

Hey all,

Just picked up an Atrix 4g in S. Korea and I am looking to root it so I can start playing around with it. The issue is that my S/W version is listed as OLSKT_U4_1.14.0 and Im not sure what root method will work since apparently others have had issues with the super one click method and Gladroot seems to require one of the versions below:
OLYFR_U4_1.2.6
OLYFR_U4_1.5.2
OLYLA_U4_0.37.4

Thanks for the help

You can try GladRoot. If it works, it works, if it doesn't, it doesn't and there's no other way of getting root right now. SuperOneClick, for the hundred thousandth time, should not be used on an Atrix.

Rebuilding App files

Have a question about rebuilding a music player app to work with my Atrix. Is there any programs that allow you to edit the framework of an app to allow universal compatibility? I would like to use the Galaxy S music player is there way to remove the files and replace with Atrix specific? The music player app is one of the best around too bad its not universal.

People have been trying to do that since SGS was released :)

It relies too heavily on the SGS framework to be made into a standalone app, was my understanding.

Hey I just noticed in the SD Card/Internal Memory section in settings, where it lists the space available internally and on my SD card, yadda yadda yadda. At the top it also lists available space for apps? It says 1.5 gb, which is kind of small...what does this mean?? If I reach that limit does that mean I have to start deleting apps?

When I try to flash to 1.26 or 1.52 using RSD Lite 5.3.1 I get a an error that says:

"Failed flashing process. Phone[0000]: Phone did not re-enumerate after RAM-downloader was sent. (0x703E); phone connected"

A bit frustrating, tried just using Gladroot but it failed because Im using the wrong version (Korean Atrix 4G) Right now Im running OLSKT_U4_1.14.0, not sure how that one compares to the other versions out there.

Appreciate any help I can get.

Flashing the other SBFs is risky it could brink your device. Its like a Bell user from canada flashing an AT&T SBFs from the US

Just my 2 cents
sent from my better than yours Atrix ;-)

The 2gb is just the Media Area on the phone, if you go into Setting -> Applications -> Manage applications and tap on the "Media area" tab you can see a list of applications there and move them to the internal or external SD cards from there.

You won't be able to flash an AT&T SBF to anything but an AT&T Atrix, is my guess. It currently doesn't flash on any other phones, and we can't flash anything but AT&T firmware on our AT&T phones. I'm not familiar with any of the other firmware versions as I just don't have the devices to look at.
