i9100 ICS source code IS NOT N7000 ICS source code. :D

Information in General section :

As suspected, the N7000 ICS kernel is far from different from any i9100 iCS kernels !!!

I made comparison from all i91000 ICS kernels, and there were only slight diffs from "European" (called Open source : GT-I9100_ICS and GT-I9100P_ICS), with Korean Update 3 and Update 4.

The major changes came from i9100 Korean ICS update 5 !!!

This first N7000 ICS kernel is completely different from any previously quoted i9100 ICS kernels, including Korean ICS update 5 !!!

Haven't got time to figure out if eMMC "bug" is still there or not, tho. ;)

Need more time to study all that stuffs... ^^

Newb question for everyone.

I'm keen to avoid having to re-install my apps and recover my settings, so i'm waiting to get ICS via KIES or OTA.

I'm using my N700 on Rogers in Canada, and it was bought through a wholesaler who sourced it from Italy.

What does that mean for my update? Will I get the update when Italy does?

Otherwise, my carrier Rogers, doesn't sell the N700 version of the note, just the LTE version that AT&T and other Canadian carriers offer: the SGH-I717.

haha, totally agree, does the so called "emmc bug" ever exist if you have use the firmware as it is, no rooting, no clockworkmod?
those that had reported brick using the wipe in stock recovery has at least once use a rooted firmware, or have at least once use the wipe in clockworkmod recovery before they switch to stock. any person here that have not used any of the above bricked their phone?

is there a possibility that clockworkmod recovery be "fixed" to workaround the "dangerous command" (or emmc bug) instead? just my thought, i have zero knowledge of android/linux programming...
But, at least one person has bricked their phone wiping data in SETTINGS using the factory reset feature there.

What's the need to censure and delete everything ?

Why don't you let each other discover one another ?

There was nothing respectfulness, nor incite or flame...

"Enemies" could become "friends" at time being as long as they continue communicating, otherwise you'll leave them frustrated with their respective errors... ^^

Don't like deus ex machina?;)
Which one ? ;)

The one from antic Greek theater, from Molière, Murder Party or you meant modo oka1 is a machine ? :D

Please, save us from Terminator !!!

Last but not least, deus ex machina is NOT now related anymore with Samsung ICS kernel BUT firmware...

So everyone, ask a refund from Samsung till it be fixed !!!

Apple Dropy might say : "I am haapyy". ^^

OP from my Country forum

i dont believe a single word.

imagine this, there are hundreds of thousands of ppl dare to use custom rom, you think they would afraid to use OFFICIAL ICS?

come on man, stop all this bs, those are not source. my android engineer say this say this. hey i'm steve jobs.

my point is, there is nothing safer than official rom. ( and ppl are flocking to get custom rom) so forget about scaring ppl on the brick and fried thingy.

any german galaxy note brick or exploded? taiwan?

nice reply there, i'm glad that you manage to ignore all the evidence problems related to Official ICS rom for Galaxy Note.
Just to be sure, i'll clap my hands if you and one of the forumer BRICKED their device.

FORUM = a mixture of really smart ppl + average ppl + very stewpik ppl.

scare to brick a phone via official rom = scare to get in a car accident when you go to work everyday.
Dumb people still ignoring all the evidences

This person factory reset from a stock unrooted firmware? This person have not at least once use a rooted firmware/clockworkmod on ics?
I am also interested in this question.

Has there been any case of someone bricking his phone from a non-rooted kernel using the factory reset from settings?

Also, is there any difference between using the factory reset with a non-rooted phone and a rooted one? (with no cwm).

I had mentioned this earlier here too and despite looking again, I cant seem to find even one instance of a brick reported on stock ZSLPF.

The warning post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633943 by Entropy lists two instances, but those links are dead and return with a "404". If you try to find via post numbers, it points to incisivekeith's post in this very thread... to which I had referred earlier and was clearly not a stock recovery or hard reset on a stock ZSLPF

Thank you faisal (my father's name is faisal too :) ).

I've read thousands of posts looking for this info, but only could find the one you mentioned.

So, Entropy, if you read this posts, can you point us to those two cases you talk about?

Here is the link to Entropy's post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633943

Here is a quote:
XXLPY official ICS release for GT-N7000 - at least one hardbrick (chasmodo), 2 people with damaged partitions (unusable /data or /system), at least 1 person with unusable /data after a wipe in *factory* recovery - it's not just CWM, and one person who hardbricked after wiping in Settings
