I will save you a lot of trouble by saying dont even try. Even the best dev would have a lot of troubles, xiaomi dont release kernel sourcea etc. Thats why its extremely difficult and i wouldnt get my hopes up if i were you.

Aosp is stock android. Anyways, you still need drivers, kernels etc. Its not an easy process.

Sometimes Xiaomi releases Sources, most of the time it is after a while.
